Rockin' out with The Stereo,

The bastard child of Rory from The Impossibles and Jamie Wolfard from Animal Chin, The Stereo provides a softer sound (and a definte departure from ska) than either band but with beefed guitars and emo-esque melodic vocals, it's an experience all of it's own. This particular album (the stereo's third) is just Jamie rockin' out, Rory having departed by this time, but that just makes the album all the more killer. It's definetly time to stop listening to the radio and pick up The Stereo.

The Stereo is one of those bands that you hear about way to late. They've relied on a lot of word of mouth on their CDs due to lack of commercial success, but critically they've done an excellent job a writing good songs and by the time this last album came out they've accomplished a wondefufl studio sound.
It's not a first spin disc, you need to keep it spining a couple of times before all the songs begin to hit. "Pay No Attention" and "Tell Your Football Dad No" are some of the catchiest, and there are plenty of hooks to bring you in and set your head back and forth. Buy this and listen to it. Jimmy Eat World fans, Relient K fans, if you like wonderful melodic rock, this band is your dinner.

Best out of the trilogy,

Personaly I like this album the most out of the 3 stereo albums but they're all great, Jamie does a great job of mixing genres toward the end of the CD, and Turn of your tv is one of the most amazing songs ever written. don't forget to check out "Let go" Jamie Woolford's new band, on the militia group!

Rewind + Record is the last album from Jamie and his always changing band that now is broken up. Maybe the last acoustic track "Two Weeks Notice" gave us a hint? Jamie definitely has a gift for writing good songs and rocking. This and the debut album with Rory(Impossibles dude) definitely show his talent. Although, in my opinion the first LP "3Hundred" is a little better. This is really still worth owning if you were into the other Stereo stuff or heard a few tunes.
The album starts off as a tribute to us a fans...how nice?! It's a quick thank you with a guitar and some effects JEW used on "Clarity"(drum programming,etc.)...some other songs use the Jimmy Eat World-"Clarity" style. Those songs are OK...the songs that standout are the ones with a full rocking band and not the effects in my opinion. Check out "Pay No Attention", the awesomely catchy "You Better Believe it", "Turn Off Your TV", "Football Dad", etc. Good tunes! Oh yeah, Kevin Scanlon(ex-pollen guitarist) plays solos on a couple songs and he rocks...J Mascis style! Also Chris Serafini(ex-Pollen) plays bass on a lot of the album...he's a good bassist also. Dan Hargest(yet another Pollen guy) sings in the background. Check out Pollen too!
