If you like Philip Glass' music and are looking for new interpretations of his music, this CD is worth checking out. Unlike some other remixes out there, I think Beck et al have managed to keep the core elements of Glass' music while adding their artistic takes. I think the remixes work well and would recommend it for anyone interested in ambient music.

It is easy to see why Beck, the figure behind this reworking of some of Philip Glass' work, is both critically and popularly acclaimed. His own long piece (more than 20 minutes) is witty, appropriate, moving, creative, and sometimes surprising. It genuinely adds something new to Glass' already considerable achievement. Contrast that with the incoherent efforts of the other would-be's whom some ill-advised person (I hope without optimism it wasn't Beck) has invited to fill out the set, and one can see that different is not enough. Only Cornelius' effort is listenable, and that is largely a set of variations on an extremely well-known Glass work. Let the others do their own thing for people who appreciate them. They have no place here.

This is a nice collection of some of Glass' pieces remixed in a more modern style; there are a lot of electronics. The most prominent piece is the one by Beck, who provides not a singular remix, but a mini-compendium of different Glass pieces that are blended together masterfully.

I would have preferred a more diverse selection of pieces from Glass' library, it (the pieces) can get a bit repetitive, however this is a great purchase for fans of Glass, minimalist, and electronic music.

Takes what's really cool about PG and sets it all aside in favor of some thumpety-thump so-what reimaginings. So if you're a PG fan you'll likely be disappointed because it isn't very PG-y, if you are fan of the other artists you'll likely be disappointed because they're not really doing what they do best... I kind of half expected that would be the case when I bought it, but I bought it all the same because what the heck, sometimes stuff like this really surprises you. Alas, not this time.

Liked this a lot. Interesting reworkings that provide new insights into his distinctive style. Was my commuting companion recently. Thumb's up!

Phil Glass makes quite powerful music and this is vibrant cut through his work.I gave it as present for Christmas to several friends and several came back to me saying how much they enjoyed it.
