Still recovering at a hospital on the north coast of Dakru, Elei is convinced that his part in bringing down the Gultur is over. Rex has infected the other race and their dictatorial system is starting to collapse. Not every Gultur, though, has been affected, and on top of that, inside Elei's body, Rex has matured and goes through another transformation. Elei isn't sure he can survive Rex's new strength -- but that may prove the last of his worries as the Gultur descend on him again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Sequel to a Great Book March 10, 2012
By Mary
Format:Kindle Edition
I read and enjoyed Rex Rising as well, and I loved the way the characters continued to develop in this book. They become deeper, and we learn new things about who they are and why they do what they do. As ever, Ms. Thoma's writing style is evocative and poetic. It really pulled me into the story. There are some really wonderful moments, some funny, some tense, some sweet, and I'm totally intrigued by the new aspects of the plot and how it's all going to turn out! I can't wait for the next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Near perfection and more" October 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As much as I enjoyed Chrystalla Thoma's first novel of Elei's Chronicles ("Rex Rising"), I enjoyed this one even more. Where sometimes second novels disappoint, this one improves on an already great story concept and set of characters. The opening, which picks up where the first novel left off, is equally compelling: "Inserted in Elei's wrist, a thick needle dripped painkillers and serum into a vein." If only a little pain was all he had to worry about...

Even more compelling than her first novel, "Rex Cresting" takes the reader back into Elei's world where he and his friends face new challenges and new dangers. I won't spoil the story by revealing anything other than to say that if you read and enjoyed "Rex Rising," you'll love this one. Read the synopsis of this one if you want to know more. Then purchase and read the novel. You will not be disappointed. Both novels are on my "highly recommended" list for readers of all genres.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Gets Better and Better July 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The concept behind this series is awesome as you'd know if you read book 1, Rex Rising. Book 2, Rex Cresting is just as interesting, if not more so. It's fascinating to get a deeper look into the Gultar, the female rulers of a war torn world and even more lovely to have the bonds between the characters grow stronger and stronger despite the misunderstandings that arise while Elei runs for his life, fights to rescue his friend Kalaes, and trys to do the right thing no matter how much the parasites within him disagree. I am very much looking forward to book 3.

A good book for those who are into fantasy. This is not my kind of book. Once I start a book
