I saw this in a colleague's office and had to have a copy for myself. This is a beautifully written, concise overview of rheumatology. The author writes from personal experience; this is all practical material relating to diagnosis and treatment. It is almost 10 years old now, but from the standpoint of the practicing primary care physician, the vast majority of the material is still relevant. Much more enjoyable to read than the Arthritis Foundation text that I used in residency. Though unlikely, I'd like to see a new edition.

This is an excellent rheumatology text. Far more than just a primary level manual, it gives enough pathophysiological detail to bestow a real understanding of each subject and then approaches diagnosis and management in a very practical way, including useful overviews of paramedical therapies (of which doctors are often ignorant and which are particularly important in rheumatology). I browsed through a large number of rheumatology textbooks before coming across this one; it was definitely the best for primary and secondary level application.

It is a very concise book, but otherwise a very complete and practical one. Excellent for medical students, residents and good for practitioners.
