About the Author

Marcia Brown published her first book, Unsigned Beauties of Costume Jewelry, in 2000. She is the host and co-writer of the award-winning Venture Entertainment books-on-tape series Hidden Treasures: A Collector's Guide to Antique & Vintage Jewelry. She is a frequent contributor to the Vintage Fashion & Costume Jewelry newsletter. An antique and vintage jewelry historian, lecturer, and collector, Brown also provides private consultations for many dealers, mall owners, and collectors.

I wasn't sure how this book would be after the disappointing Coro book but it is very good. There are lots and lots of photos of a wide variety of figurals. The pricing seems pretty average for the industry too. This is a good one!

Collecting Costume Jewelry, you always find a shortage of figurals in books on collecting. This book is fantastic and one of my favorites! The photos are clear, crisp, bright and beautiful. The prices are comparable even after many years. It is so difficult to find many figurals in other jewelry books. I find myself going back to this book again and again. It is one of my favorites, because so much jewelry is of animals, people, florals, whimsicals. I have the hardback copy, I was afraid I would wear it out too fast. This book has over 290 pages of photographs, that is a lot of jewelry!!! You will not be disappointed in this investment, it truly holds its value. It is a great reference guide and a lovely book of costume jewelry.

I love figural costume jewelry(especially animals) & there aren't all that many books published that are devoted only to figurals. This is one, and it's a good one! Lots of good clear, colorful pictures -- lots of different catagories -- including lots of different animal catagories and other whimsicals..people, nature, ect..... I'll be keeping this book for a long time!
