This ball was a favorite in our house. It's shape makes it ideal for very young babies just beginning to hold objects to grab it and hang on. But after several months of ordinary play it showed up split on several seams. The company claims the ball is virtually indistructable but my kids have managed to break it.

edited to add: the customer service people at this company did replace my ball and seemed very concerned and surprised that I had the problem I had with mine. They even wanted to examine my oball to see the problem it had firsthand.

We picked up this toy after a play group where the 10 babies spent fighting over one kiddo's oball the whole two hours we were there. The very next week, almost all of us had bought one. We have had our Oball for almost two years and now I am online shopping for one as a present. I have bought several of them in the past as presents as well. This was a favorite toy of my daughter's as an infant and I still find it out on the floor of our play room all the time now tht she is a toddler. It is easy to grasp and lightweight so babies love it! We have never had any problems with it cracking or splitting. I wonder if that may have just been a fluke deal for the previous family who reviewed it. I would highly recommend this toy....

Our six month old loves this toy. The mesh makes it very easy to grab, hold and play catch with. She likes to chew on the soft rubber material and take it along in the stroller for her walks; the mesh also makes it easy to connect it to the stroller so it won't get away from you. It is excellent for promoting hand and eye coordination.Original Oball

We got this O-ball for our first daughter when she was ~6months old. She loves it and still plays with it now that she is 4 years old. It is extremely easy to grab and catch. It cannot hurt you even if a big kid (aka daddy) throws it really hard at someone. Our kid is an excellent catcher now I believe because of this toy - it didn't hurt her if it hit her, so she wasn't afraid to try.

It is very durable. Besides the many kids that have played with it over the past 3+ years, it is still being used and is still a great toy for our second daughter who just turned 6 months. She loves to "throw" it around. The *SAME* one, looks just like new still despite all the fun we've had with it.

We have purchased this ball for so many friends who have loved it that is has become a standard baby shower or first birthday gift, no joke!

My black lab is "ball obsessed". In winter we pretty much only get to play ball in the house. Her regular "outdoor" balls bounced around the rooms and we broke a few things in the house. I started looking for a ball that we could play with safely in the house. Found this ball in the section for kids pool toys. I was amazed how much she loves her new "indoor ball". We have had it for about 8 months...it shows no signs of breakage. Its so light weight that you can throw it around and if it hits something...it won't break it. PLUS you don't have to deal with "dog slobber" like you do on a normal ball. LOVE this ball and I have recommended it to several fellow dog owners.

This ball is the greatest toy ever! My baby loved it from the first second on. He couldn't even really grab the first time I gave it to him. This ball was so easy to hold for him. It helped him learn how to grab and hold things. It is very soft and the thing I love most about it, is that you can put it in the dishwasher, boil it, sanitize it, whatever you want.
I bought a similar looking one from another company but it was way to heavy and hard and I could not sanitize it at all, it started to melt. I think it is very important to be able to sanitize a toy on which babys love to suck on.
So this Oball is great. I ordered more of them. My baby never gets tired to play with it.

We bought both the small and big Oballs for our granddaughter. They're colorful, well made, somewhat flexible and are not made with toxic materials.

She began playing with the smaller Oball as soon as she could sit up, and now plays with both of them as they are easy for her to pick up and handle and to throw. She loves to throw them or bat them around and crawl after them. Since they're "hollow" and made of relatively soft material, they won't hurt anything or anyone.

One game we play is to put the big one on the floor, then stack other small toys on top of it including the smaller Oball. It's a fun toy that gets used on a daily basis unlike a lot of the other toys. Also, when the child is older, I can see kicking the big Oball around in the backyard Soccer-style without having to worry about it traveling too far or hurting someone.

I can't really comment on durability as yet, as we haven't had the oballs that long.

UPDATE: June 18, 2009: Our granddaughter (who is now 2+ years old) continues to love and play with these balls all the time. They are very easy to pick up and kick around the yard (and the house). Also, they are holding up very well considering all the use they get.

I received this ball as a gift for my 2.5 month old son. This toy is fantastic. It basically taught my son how to manipulate his fingers to hold on and let go. It was so easy for him to grab onto unlike other toys which just made him frustrated when he couldn't grab on. I would buy this ball for anyone with a newborn baby.

I expect this ball to have years and years of usage because even when he grows up, this ball will be lots of fun to throw and catch!

Great toy. However, globs of glue residue on seam may be a choking hazzard. Can see why not recommended for under 3's.

This toy was one of my baby's favorites between three and four months. She still likes it to some degree now at nearly six months old, but as a first toy, it was great! I never thought this toy would be her favorite at all but because she was easily able to grab it, lift it, move it around and chew on it, it proved to be a wonderful addition to her toy basket. This little toy is very lightweight and economical. I picked it up on a whim at the store when I was going down the toy aisle and low-and-behold, what a great purchase it turned out to be. Educationally I don't think this toy does very much, but it's a fun toy for a baby who is just learning how to use their hands to grasp and hold onto objects.
