We love the O-Ball Rattle. We first saw it during a development class we took at a local center. We had to buy one because my son wouldn't let it go. At the time, he was about 8 weeks - and it was the first toy he ever played with. This rattle is great for making noise, is easy to grab onto, and in its ball shape, also rolls like a ball! It's a ball AND a rattle and a grip toy for babies to learn to grab. It also makes a great adult stress toy. We also hook it to the playmat.

My 8 m/o twins did not get too excited about this toy. However, I think that it's a nice addition to our toy box and hopefully they will grow to love playing with it. Perhaps the ball will be more fun when they start crawling and can follow it as it rolls away. I like that this toy has no PVC, Latex, Phthalates, or BPA. It confirms to safety standards ASTM F963-03. Made by Rhino Toys, Inc., manufactured in China.
Update: it did become one of the toys to fight for - it rattles, it rolls, is easy to grab, and even can jump if thrown against the floor. Not sure why there is a warning about small parts - the little rattling balls seem to be safely encased in the transparent plastic windows.

This is a video of my daughter playing with the ball. She started to play with it when she was 3 months old and she is now 13 months old (5 months old in the video) and she still loves to play with this ball. Its so flexible and rattles. My daughter loves the rattle noise it makes. This was the first item she has ever transfered from one hand to the other. The ball was made in such a way that helps a baby's little fingers to grasp the ball easily. This is a great toy for a baby!

Love the toy, my 4month old started playing with it the minute he got a hold of it! My 2yr old also likes it! Only thing is you cannot pick your color so my boy ended up with a pink ball...Did not like that part.

The Oball looks like alot of fun. Very light and can be easily picked up by your little ones. However, I will not be giving this toy to my 4 month old baby. Those pockets of rattles are glued in and they are poorly done. You can see glues slabbed all over. They advertised as PVC free, PHTHALATES free, lead free, even safe to put in steamer. All that is useless if you got dried glue all over. I can't imagine any babies playing with this toy since they always put things in their mouth!! Totally unacceptable as an infant toy.
Another reviewer had also mentioned this, I thought it might be a fluke but looks like Rhino Toys have some quality control issue. I will be returning the product.

I really wanted to love this toy because I think my 9 mo old daughter would've loved playing with it. But when we got it, you could tell that it was made by gluing all these little rings and those plastic bubbles with the beads all together. That's fine in and of itself but the glue was everywhere. I didn't feel good about letting her put it in her mouth so we returned it.

Great for most of baby's first year, at least!,

We have had the Oball since my son's birth. Before he was able to grab or hold toys on his own, it was nice that we could attach it to his baby gym so he could easily stare or bat at it. At a little under 3 months old, it was the first toy he grabbed onto and held on his own. This seemingly simple toy has entertained my baby in so many different ways over the months since then. For a while, he just liked to stare at it and try to shove the whole thing in his mouth (it didn't work). Then he discovered that he could shake it to make a sound. For the past couple of months, he's been fascinated by anything that rolls and amused by rolling it across the floor. And just recently, he's realized it will bounce if he drops it, which he finds hilarious. Add to that the fact that it can also be smushed, and it's really quite a lot of fun. I assume one could also use it as, you know, a ball as well. On occasion, my son and I have played catch by rolling it across the floor to each other. At 11 months old, my son still plays with this toy sometimes. It was a good purchase and worth the 7 or 8 bucks it cost.

Ok, so it is a rattle, so keep that in mind. My baby doesn't like most rattles much. This one though she can hold onto, squish and chew. It is easy to attach to her exersaucer. You can hang it from the car seat. It will smush into your diaper bag. All baby toys are about as fun as you put effort into playing with them, but this one was particularly easy for my 4 month old to interact with alone. I love it. She loves it. OH, and it is about the size of a softball, so it isn't a choking hazard like the entry says. I will buy one of these for every baby shower I go to from now on. And the price here is too high, Walmart had them for $5.

Maybe I didn't do as much research on it as I should've, but I was looking for a new toy for my (then) 6 month old and this got great reviews. I returned it because: 1- there was glue around all the rattle discs which I felt very uncomfortable giving to my baby to put in her mouth and also didn't want to spend the time to scratch it all off. 2- it was much smaller than I expected. 3- it seems like it would be very difficult for baby to put the toy in mouth, though it is easy to grasp. 4- you don't get choice of color and of course I got blue for my daughter.
For the money it was not worth it to me to have the extra clutter of another toy unused...

My baby was 3 months when he started grabbing this toy on his own. It's easy for babies to grab even for newborns (with help). It's the first rattle he can really shake. Very light.
