Blitz Rider Ramps - They Are Good - But Not Great,

This review is from: RhinoGear 11935 EZ Lift Rider Ramps - Set of 2 (Lawn & Patio)
EXPERIENCE: The Blitz Rider Ramps are made out of a durable plastic material, and have a small rubber strip at the bottom, in the middle of these ramps. The website advertises these to work on both a concrete and grass surfaced. As you can well see, there is video proof that these do not work on concrete. I think the reason for this, has to do with the fact, there is not rubber on the entire bottom of the rider ramps. Perhaps if there were, it may not have slid like that, maybe a rubber mat will allow these to operate on concrete? Somebody please get back to me on this and let me know. I even tried using a hammer to pound them underneath the tire more, before I tried to drive up on them. Unfortunately, this did not work. As you can well see however, once I took my rig onto the grass, I was able to drive up on them just fine and lock in the parking break. These things basically rise my machine up to about the same level as my jack. These are nice because they allow me to service mine or others machines. However, since impact wrenches are so big, just as with before, you will also need to get your jack out, to lift the side of the deck, who's blade you are trying to remove, to get the extra clearance, for the impact to fit underneath. CONCLUSION: Since they advertise these to work on both concrete and grass, I think they need to go back to the drawing board, cause I am not the only one having problems with this on concrete. However, they work well on grass and allow me to service these machines. I am somewhat happy with my purchase, and I give these a 4 out of 5. UPDATE 09/08/11 I just most recently had a chance to use these again. The first time I used them so that I could get under my cutting deck to remove the blades. They were quite dull and were not cutting the grass anymore, plus were doing a horrible job bagging. I was able to easily get under there to remove and reinstall the cutting blades without a hole lot of hassle. With as much mowing as I do, I knew I had a lot of caked on nasty grass and dirt under my cutting deck. So today I used them so I could pressure wash the underside of my deck. It wasn't as easy as having the deck completely off my machine to do it, but it was easier to do without the ramps! I was able to get it much cleaner, the evidence is on my back lawn LOL. These are nice ramps, but they only work on the lawn, unless you are able to pickup a couple of rubber mats for concrete.

These truly are a good idea, would make blade changing much easier, but I couldn't get them to work. Instead of rolling up on them the mower just pushed them forward leaving black skid marks all over the driveway. I tried going slow and fast with no success. I plan to return them.

I also had the issue of the ramps sliding both on gravel and blacktop but I have also had the same issue with the regular style ramps. I solved my issue by putting these ramps on the grass where they held fine. I think they need to improve the design slightly.
I do not mind lying in grass and once I got my riding mower up on these ramps I was very pleased with how much room I had to work with. With the regular ramps I never had enough room to work underneath the mower deck.I will be keeping mine. Blitz does need to make those grips on the bottom a little bigger and that might solve the problem.

I agree with the other review so far - good idea but it does not work on a hard surface. Made black marks on my concrete driveway as I slid all over and wore the plastic bottom off the EZ Ramp waiting for them to work. I got lucky and the ramps worked in the grass. I got un-lucky and laid in the grass to work under my lawn mower and got eaten alive by insects. Don't buy, not worth any dollar amount. I'm going back to using my ramps and placing them on the back of my truck or wall.

Very convenient and easy to use. Stores in a small space since they nest inside each other. They work best on grass. On gravel or concrete they like to slide, but simply putting a rubber floor mat down and setting the ramps on that solves that problem easily. I bought a set of cheap rubber mats from WalMart for 6 bucks for use in the garage, otherwise I use the ramps in the grass. Definitely a good product for the price and ease of use.

Great on grass, asphalt is a different thing,

I already own their ramps for cars, the 8,000 pound version which is excellent. I can now get under my cars to change the oil. I bought these for my lawn tractor (I tried it on the car ramp but the ramp portion does get in the way of the mower section). I have to agree with the others. I tried these on my asphalt driveway, and they were nigh onto impossible to get on to. The tractor sort of shoved one around and distorted it (it popped back into shape afterward) and really wouldn't get on top. The ramps worked quite well on my lawn. Obviously, don't use them right after a rain when the ground is soggy. Once on the ramp (you have a 6" rise) you should have enough room to access the mower blades. I also use the Blitz wheel chocks for the rear wheels.

Folks, have we Americans become so jaded that we think everything must work flawlessly right out of the box? Where is your creativity?? When I spied these at the local Lowes, it was love at first sight! I was sooo tired of trying to scrape the mower deck with just a few inches of clearance (and virtually no line-of-view). These babies work GREAT! Yes, I experienced the exact same 18-seconds of frustration y'all did when I first chased them around the driveway, but its PLASTIC, and plastic slides on smooth surfaces (not much co-efficient of friction to hold 'em in place). Anyway, my frustration was short lived; I simply hollared, "Stef, come hold these things in front of the tractor wheels!" She did, and I slowly drove up onto the ramps. Problem solved. Now, for those of you who are reading these reviews to support a purchase decision, BUY THEM! They work GREAT with a little ingenuity! P.S. Although I didn't try his method, the reviewer who suggested rubber mats also solved "the great sliding problem of 2011", and I bet his method works well even without a helper (but my wife's prettier than his mats!).

Quick and easy to use.
Just enough lift to make mower maintenance simple and safe.

This ramp works for my concrete driveway and I have no problem getting up on this ramp at all. The mower was up on my very first attempt. However, I tried this on a gravel driveway and it didn't work.

This item works great but you do need a helper to hold the lifts in place until you drive the tractor up onto them otherwise it will slide. It does make for easier maintenance on your tractor. I also like that it is easy to store afterwards. Overall would recommend.
