3.0 out of 5 stars A nice case but overpriced for what you get., December 1, 2001

This review is from: RhinoSkin Aluminum Slider Hardcase for Palm m500 series (Office Product)
I bought the RhinoSkin Aluminum Slider Hardcase to protect
my Visor Pro. The sturdy aluminum construction is rather
attractive and does protect the PDA exceptionally well, but
at number of disadvantages. First, it is boxy and does not
fit comfortably into pants pockets. So, if you buy this case
expect to keep it in a larger coat pocket or to carry it by
hand. Second, the slider emits a rather annoying squeaking
sound which I can only liken to fingernails on a chalk
board. Third, it is not comfortable to use the PDA while still in
the case. I just remove it from the case when I want to use
it for extended periods of time. Finally, when it arrived
case the edges on the metal where sharp and required a
polishing with a Drummel tool to get to a point where I
would not fear cutting myself or ripping pockets on the
corners of the box. I paid (price) for this? Well... besides
its cost and having to polish the edges before using it, its
really not that bad and YES it really does protect the PDA
exceptionally well. I've mistakenly dropped it now three
times since I've bought it(once from a height of over 5
feet) and no damage. So, in a sense maybe it is worth the
cost given that buying a new Visor Pro would be much more
expensive. I just wish someone would make a more functional
metal case for a PDA this size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny... Best investment for your PDA., May 14, 2001
By
Rhinoskin's aluminum case for the Palm IIIc is the best investment I ever made for my PDA. It is light, sturdy, and elegant. It is easy to use. I would recommend that if you are going to buy this that you use a custom stylus like the "panache." If not, the use of the standard stylus can be difficult as removing the stylus would require you take the PDA out of the case ("tip it up"). Still, this is the best case for people who are often careless. I myself put it in its case and into my bookbag... the case protects it from being crushed. No velcro required, that was a great selling point. Most cases require using velcro, which is just messy. I am sure that this case will protect my PDA for years to come. Highly Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Sturdy, April 30, 2002

This case is an excellent choice if you carry your Palm in a briefcase of backpack. It stays closed and will protect the machine against bangs and crushing. Build quality is excellent and the friction fit method of holding the Palm in the case requires no velcro, another plus. I also appreciate the space provided on the inside of the case for business cards. The only real downside is that you have to remove your machine from the case to sync or charge. I consider this an acceptable tradeoff for the protection that is offered. Additionally, if you are partial to belt cases, Rhinoskin makes a belt case for the Sliders. The whole hardcase fits into the belt holster for easy access. The Slider isn't a perfect case for a Palm but if you are concerned with durability or use your Palm in less than ideal conditions, it is the way to go.
