This review is from: RhinoSkin Aluminum Slider Hardcase for Palm m500 series (Office Product)
I bought the RhinoSkin Aluminum Slider Hardcase to protectmy Visor Pro. The sturdy aluminum construction is rather attractive and does protect the PDA exceptionally well, but at number of disadvantages. First, it is boxy and does not fit comfortably into pants pockets. So, if you buy this case expect to keep it in a larger coat pocket or to carry it by hand. Second, the slider emits a rather annoying squeaking sound which I can only liken to fingernails on a chalk board. Third, it is not comfortable to use the PDA while still in the case. I just remove it from the case when I want to use it for extended periods of time. Finally, when it arrived case the edges on the metal where sharp and required a polishing with a Drummel tool to get to a point where I would not fear cutting myself or ripping pockets on the corners of the box. I paid (price) for this? Well... besides its cost and having to polish the edges before using it, its really not that bad and YES it really does protect the PDA exceptionally well. I've mistakenly dropped it now three times since I've bought it(once from a height of over 5 feet) and no damage. So, in a sense maybe it is worth the cost given that buying a new Visor Pro would be much more expensive. I just wish someone would make a more functional metal case for a PDA this size.

Worth every penny... Best investment for your PDA.,

Rhinoskin's aluminum case for the Palm IIIc is the best investment I ever made for my PDA. It is light, sturdy, and elegant. It is easy to use. I would recommend that if you are going to buy this that you use a custom stylus like the "panache." If not, the use of the standard stylus can be difficult as removing the stylus would require you take the PDA out of the case ("tip it up"). Still, this is the best case for people who are often careless. I myself put it in its case and into my bookbag... the case protects it from being crushed. No velcro required, that was a great selling point. Most cases require using velcro, which is just messy. I am sure that this case will protect my PDA for years to come. Highly Recommended.

This case is an excellent choice if you carry your Palm in a briefcase of backpack. It stays closed and will protect the machine against bangs and crushing. Build quality is excellent and the friction fit method of holding the Palm in the case requires no velcro, another plus. I also appreciate the space provided on the inside of the case for business cards. The only real downside is that you have to remove your machine from the case to sync or charge. I consider this an acceptable tradeoff for the protection that is offered. Additionally, if you are partial to belt cases, Rhinoskin makes a belt case for the Sliders. The whole hardcase fits into the belt holster for easy access. The Slider isn't a perfect case for a Palm but if you are concerned with durability or use your Palm in less than ideal conditions, it is the way to go.

Ugly, noisy, and quite overpriced,

When I first looked at the pretty pictures I was in love.. that metallic look is great. But don't be fooled. When I first opened the case to place my palm in it I was shocked to hear that squeaking noise! If you don't want to attract attention don't buy it.Then came that ugly interior padding, it just didn't feel right, especially with that price tag that came along with it. The real downfall came when I tried to use my handheld on it.. it is terribly uncomfortable!! I just couldn't bear to write on it with the stylus or do pretty much anything else with it. Now I only use it when traveling.. the only good thing going for it is the relaxing feeling I get when throwing it, along with all my stuff, into my not so organized suitcase or backpack. At most it will keep your handheld safe. That's were the one star went.

Rhinoskin Hard Case,

I use this hard case for my Palm m500. I insist on hard cases for my PDA due to the nature of my job and the mobility that comes with my lifestyle. This unit is good and will protect the unit. My only constructive criticism is that it is a bit thicker than you might think when looking at it. If you stick your Palm in your back pocket as I do, this one might be a bit bulky. Hopefully, the choice ofthinner hard cases will become available in the future

My HP Jornada 548 fits nice in it but there is no room for the pen. Bad thing. Hard to open also.

I bought this for my new Ipaq 3835 and found it too small to fit -- even without the sleeve. Beware and make sure of your model.

I love this case. I dropped my Palm M505 in this case and I thought it was done. The case didn't even get a scratch.

a bit dinky,

I wanted a case which didn't involve either velcro or animal skin, so this seemed like a good option. however, it's very difficult to open the first week or so of use, after which it starts to loosen up to the point that it opens when you don't want it to. it's thin and light, yes-but be careful; it's so thin that I actually nearly cut myself on the edges a couple times. I'm seriously thinking of taking mine back and shelling out the extra [money] for the palm brand one.
