1.0 out of 5 stars after market canon ink cartridges, March 29, 2003

I purchased after market ink cartridges for my canon s9000 printer and was I ever sorry! All photos produced had an ugly pink cast. Ended up taking the machine in to be repaired and was told by the repair company that the problem with the machine was simply that after-market ink cartridges were being used. I took the machine home, inserted ink cartridges made by canon for the machine and it worked perfectly! Beautiful prints! Also was informed that using other than Canon made ink cartridges would void that Canon warranty.

A lot of money was wasted by using these after market ink cartridges: money paid for the cartridges, photo paper used in testing the machine which was then producing hideous prints, time wasted with all this. Moral to this story: buy after-market ink cartridges at your own risk. Was also informed by the canon certified repair specialist that if we continued to use the after market cartridges, which produced really ugly prints, we would end up with a permanently damaged printhead (very expensive item.) So, use only ink cartridges manufactured by Canon for your excellent Canon S900 or S9000 photo printer.

1.0 out of 5 stars no ink comes out, March 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Rhinotek compatible for Canon BJC-8200, BCI-6 Magenta Ink 1pk (BCI-6M-R) (Office Product)
I ordered rhinotek magenta replacement for the Canon BCI-6M to use in my Canon S820 printer. The ink stays in the front compartment of ink and does not flow to the back compartment like it should. I ended up replacing with magenta cartridge from a different vendor.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING! Worst quality, NEED TO USE TAPE TO INSTALL!!, February 27, 2005

Hi. The ink quality seems a bit flatter- not quite as rich and vibrant when I am printing on Epson Photo Quality Inkjet Paper from my i950 Canon (as if contrast and brightness drop a bit). Believe me, this paper combo with this printer can produce fantastic results. But use Canon inks for the two extra dollars.

Okay, you're wondering how I need to use tape? I bought a 6-pack AND multiple-pack of Black ink a while back from Rhino. I must say at this point, that the listing here on Amazon for the multi-pack DOES state EXACTLY what is included (and doesn't state black on that list), so be warned. Well, 3 of the 8 cartridges I've owned from Rhinotedious had NO front, ummm insert "latch/tab". You know, the part that faces you and "clicks" down to keep the cartridge in place. (The little piece of clear plastic that says "PUSH" on it). Yeah, hard to believe. And what good does a warranty do, really? I mean, I CHANGE inks when I run out. And keep a spare for that reason. And I'm printing when I need things done. So, sending a cartridge back at my expense for shipping and waiting for a return is really NOT an option. I use electrical tape to hold the cartridge down, otherwise it "rides" up and does not have direct contact with the ink port at the bottom. I have to tape across the top surface, over the adjacent ink cartridges to keep the Rhinoseptic in place. Does this sound like I'm maximizing my expense computer and peripherals, or that I'm getting the best quality prints of my artwork, or the best use of my money? No way. BTW, EACH Rhinotakemymoney that was defective was STILL in an unopened box and the cartridge still intact in plastic seal (so I don't think this problem was becasue they were returned by someone else or damaged before arriving), I think they just slid past their quality control.

Buy Canon. I've never had a QC issue with a single Canon ink cartridge. Cheers.
