Book Description

March 19, 2008
In 1979, a 19 year old guitar player from Los Angeles named Robert LaFond had the opportunity to study guitar with one of his favorite local guitarists; Randy Rhoads. At the time, Rhoads was splitting his time between teaching during the day and performing at night with his band Quiet Riot. LaFond studied with Randy at the Musonia School of Music for about 1 year. Luckily, for the rest of us, Mr. LaFond has kept all of his lessons intact over the years and has lovingly put them together in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, March 24, 2008

This review is from: RhoadsScholar.com: Memoirs and memories of an aspiring rhoads scholar- a Year of Guitar Study with Randy Rhoads (Paperback)
I began listening to the guitar playing of Randy Rhoads since 1981. Since that time I've studied everything I could find about his playing. Unfortunately the material has always been focused on his time with Ozzy Osbourne. I have been thinking for years that it'd be nice to see a study on Randy's development as a player and insight into his thought process.

Thanks to Mr. LaFonde, that day is here. This book shows us the building blocks that Randy Rhoads felt were essential to creating your own style as a player. He gives us insight to what Randy was like as a person as well. As I read through this book and played the examples, I could almost hear the voice of Randy Rhoads explaining what to do. I've been playing guitar for 26 years and this book opened up ideas I'd not considered in all these years.

Thank you Mr. LaFonde for sharing a part of your life with us so we can get to know this musical hero that much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is The REAL DEAL For Fans Of RANDY RHOADS!!!, December 16, 2008
This review is from: RhoadsScholar.com: Memoirs and memories of an aspiring rhoads scholar- a Year of Guitar Study with Randy Rhoads (Paperback)
I ordered this book hoping for a little more insight on Randy Rhoads, but was amazed with the amount of NEW Light Randy's Teachings sheds on understanding the guitar. This is all told thru one of Randy's Private Lesson Students. You not only get an understanding for his personality and dedication as a musician, you also get Randy's Hand Written lesson plans. As a guitar teacher myself, I found many of Randy's Lessons to be refreshing and another piece of the puzzle Rhoads fans would consider a MUST HAVE! Robert Lafond Jr. Does a fine job of revealing the excellent teacher, musician and human being Randy Rhoads will always be remembered
for. Just get the book already!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lessons with a story, February 2, 2009
This review is from: RhoadsScholar.com: Memoirs and memories of an aspiring rhoads scholar- a Year of Guitar Study with Randy Rhoads (Paperback)
What I love about this book is the way Bob weaves his own personal journey through the lessons he learned from Randy. The title really captures it, "Rhoads Scholar." You will feel Bob's renewed passion for life and music and learn from one not only the greatest guitar players but an amazing teacher of the instrument as well. This book has made me a better guitar player.
