Rhode Island 101 is a charming and entertaining little book, the perfect size for the smallest state in the union. Colorful and informative historical and pop references make this an easy read and a must-have for both Rhodys and non-Rhodys alike.

I lived near Rhode Island for many years, and this book opened my eyes to the many things Rhode Island has to offer. Has juicy bits about the history of RI such as Edgar Allan Poe's engagement to a Rhode Islander (an engagement which was broken because of his drinking problem) and the mobster Buddy Cianci, as well as information about Rhode Island's top restaurants and tourist attractions. The book is also well written and will entertain you.

Love this book, makes me laugh outloud, a long time RI resident, this book captures it all.

I just finished reading the book, and I must say it is outstanding! It describes Rhode Island in all of its facets, without candy coating anything. What you read is what you get, historical, amusing, and factual. It's all there. It's an easy read that will open your eyes to the true Rhode Island experience.

I recently moved to RI, and wanted to know as much as I could about the area. This book is full of interesting little tid-bits of information. Even my fiancée has learned new things, and he has lived here for 40 years!! I recommend this book to everyone!

What a wonderful intro to Rhode Island! Well written, entertaining, informative, and perfect size for carrying around, as you explore all that this fascinating state has to offer. If you have a Rhode-Island-reluctant reader, get them a copy of this book!

If you want to buy a cheap used copy and settle for a few useful pages on history or local food and slang, by all means go for it. But this is a terrible guide book by someone who seems to have done no research and isn't even aware of the lively theater and literature and intellectual scenes. There is more to Rhode Island than old movie stars who were born here and stuffies. Really.
