About the Author
SARAH C. O'DOWD, a retired Professor of Psychology at the Community College of Rhode Island, has published in the fields of developmental psychology, educational gerontology, and semiotics. An enthusiastic proponent of lifelong learning, she became engaged in the study of Rhode Island history through her research on Frances Whipple.

A Woman Nearly Forgotten,

This book is a welcome addition to nineteenth century history: the story of a fascinating but almost forgotten New England woman who was involved in many social movements of the century. Written with clarity and depth, the author's research and expertise is abundantly evident. Fascinating, informative, absorbing and a good read!
