Book Description

April 2005
Rhode Island is a state with more characters than a Dickens novel, a state with more heroes and villains than a TV cop show and, when it comes to politics, a state with more special effects than a Spielberg film. And who better to tell the story in their own breezy way than two longtime Rhode Island journalists....So whether you’re a native or a newcomer, read, learn and enjoy....You’ll be surprised, enlightened and entertained!

About the Author

PAUL F. ENO, left, has been a newspaper and magazine reporter and editor in Rhode Island for over 25 years. He has worked on the staffs of the Providence Journal, The Observer, and the former Pawtuxet Valley Daily Times. Since 1985, he has written over 100 articles on Rhode Island history for the Rhode Island Historical Society. This is his second book with a Rhode Island historical theme. He has won awards for journalism from the Rhode Island Press Association and for historical writing from the Rhode Island Historical Society. Under another "hat," he is an internationally known expert and speaker in the field of ghosts and the paranormal, which he has researched since 1970. He is the author of four books on that subject, and has appeared on the Discovery, Travel, and History Channels.

GLENN V. LAXTON is community affairs director for Channel 12 Eyewitness News in Providence. He has been a television and radio news reporter for 40 years. An Emmy Award winner, he holds the Silver Circle Award from the Academy of Arts and Sciences for 25 years of television experience. He is the author of many articles on Rhode Island history, and is considered an authority on the early 20th century comedy team of Laurel and Hardy.

More About the Author

PAUL F. ENO has been called "the most intelligent voice in paranormal research today" and "one of the most visionary philosophers of our time. Several radio and television producers have called him simply "incredible" and "inspiring."
Paul was one of the first paranormal investigators of the early 1970s, beginning while he was studying for the priesthood. His early mentors included parapsychology pioneer Dr. Louisa Rhine, Fr. John J. Nicola SJ (technical advisor for the film The Exorcist), and legendary, first-generation ghost hunters Ed & Lorraine Warren.
Today, Paul is an internationally known broadcaster, an award-winning New England journalist, a graduate of two seminaries, the author of seven books (two bestsellers), and holds a rare Ph.B in philosophy. He is considered one of the world's most distinguished experts in the paranormal and spiritual fields. He is also a prominent Rhode Island historian, and co-author, with Channel 12 newsman Glenn Laxton, of the book "Rhode Island: A Genial History," now used in several of the state's high schools. Along with actor David Hartman, Paul represented Rhode Island in the History Channel's "The States" series in 2007.
Much in demand as a talk-show guest around the nation, Paul has appeared multiple times on "Coast to Coast A.M." (30 million listeners) with Art Bell and George Noory. He has presented his interactive programs on the paranormal all over America and in Europe. He appears regularly on the Travel, Discovery and History Channels.
Most recently, Paul and his 18 year-old son, Ben, his "partner in the paranormal," have been working with renowned director/producer Rob Cohen on the first 3-D network television series to deal with the paranormal using Paul's and Ben's unique "multiverse" theories and methods.
The world famous father-son team hosts the international radio talk show "Behind the Paranormal with Paul & Ben Eno," syndicated on the CBS New Sky Radio network Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Pacific. A drivetime edition of the show is broadcast in the Boston/Worcester/Providence triangle on WOON 1240 AM in New England and globally on www.ONworldwide.com, with a monthly two-hour special on the South Dakota-based Achieve Radio Network.
Paul's unusually long experience in the field, his hair-raising adventures with famous hauntings, along with his utterly unique, riveting theories about the paranormal and its meaning for our understanding of the world and ourselves, draw capacity crowds wherever he speaks. His audiences love his wit, and are always moved by his compassion, his message of deathless hope, and the accounts of families he has helped.
A former editor at "The Providence Journal," Paul is still an active New England journalist, author and editor. Paul and his family live in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Find out more about Paul and his work at www.newenglandghosts.com or www.behindtheparanormal.com.

Looking forward to reading this on Halloweeen!!! Next trip home, I plan to explore some of the places listed, but have to confess that author Glenn Laxton is a friend from church summer camp and youth group activities years ago. My review is therefore VERY positive!!
