Rhodes is Greece's fourth largest island in area, and the biggest and most famous island of the Dodecanese. The island's key geographic position, has given it all the features of a Mediterranean climate, and the tendency developed by the seafaring Rhodians to found colonies throughout the known world have all played a part in its evolution.
