3.0 out of 5 stars Instrumental covers, February 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Rhumba Favorites (Audio CD)
These songs are not performed by the original artists. These are 'easy listening' instrumental covers of the original songs. As such, they are performed pretty well, a lot better than some elevator music I've heard. The performers (whoever they are) capture some but not all of the feel of the original songs. They do sound technically good. The are not lifeless like some musak, but the CD doesn't have the firey passion and sensuality suggested by the cover.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok for dance practice, March 2, 2008
By
This review is from: Rhumba Favorites (Audio CD)
To add to the first review, yes, not as bad as some elevator music, but not much better. This is very suitable for practicing ballroom rumba dancing, wihch is why I bought it, but it is certainly not something one would wish to simply listen to for music's sake. It sounds quite synthetic, as though done by one person on a very good sound machine. For $5, it was worth having some new music to practice dance to, but not worth anything beyond that.
