5.0 out of 5 stars The DOPEST album I've heard this year!, June 18, 1999
By
This review is from: Rhyme Related (Audio CD)
This is what happens when you put three of the dopest underground emcees with one of the most talented producers in hip hop. Polyrhythm Addicts is the answer to those missing Tribe Called Quest.----------------------------------------------------------------------- The beats on this album are provided by DJ Spinna, one of the most underrated producers in this game. The soundscape is reminiscent of Tribes' Midnight Marauder with a splash of Pete Rock induced vibes. Which leaves you with a mellow, jazzy type feel. On most albums you can't say every track is worth the listen, but Rhyme Related is definitely the exception. Every track is laced with dope beats with equally dope rhymes.-------------------------------------------------------------- The rhymes are brought to you by Shabaam Sahdeeq, Mr. Complex, and Apani B. Fly. All of which are some of the dopest that underground hip hop has to offer. Shabaam Sahdeeq is featured on Soundbombing II, and is releasing his own LP late this year. Shabaam's style is versatile and has a dope freestyle feel to it. Mr. Complex has a more rugged style that compliments Shabaam. Last but not least is Apani B. Fly, aka the female emcee. She flows with intelligence and confidence. All these emcees individual have had underground hits but together they put most groups to shame.-------------------------------------------------------------------- The only problem with this LP is that it was way too short. You get ten tracks but one is an intro and the other is an instrumental, which is still pretty dope.---------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope the masses get a chance to listen to this LP because it's well deserving of your money. It's a breath of fresh air from the stagnent scent of what most hip hop albums have become-wack.

4.0 out of 5 stars BIg Respect. A well done album., October 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Rhyme Related (Audio CD)
This is a party album. Fun and bouncy, but really sophisticated. These folks are formalists. Like jazz musicians, it's all about the music. The topics ain't nothing new, it's how it's done. Polyrhythm Addicts have a incredible understanding of the spoken word, the voice, and the rhythm. They pull off some of the trickiest rhymes I've heard in quite a while. This is a short and sweet album that won't collect dust.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will you marry me Apani???, November 3, 2002
This review is from: Rhyme Related (Audio CD)
Spinna is the most underrated producer in the game. He finds rediclious samples, some of his loops are just mind blowing. Apani is one of the best emcees (male or female) out. While her voice reminds me of a younger Roxane Shante', she is so nice on the mic. S Double has much lyrical ability. You even get a guest spot from the incomperable lord Phroah Monch. The formula here works well, beyond well even. But there's a downside to all this, the lp is bairly 35 minutes long. Indeed you'll be wishing for more. With S double in jail for a good long while, I don't think we'll be seeing a follow up, which is a shame. I can only hope Apani B releases a solo album soon, oh and she marries me!
