I have never been compelled to write a review before, but then, I have never bought an album that I really liked every song. This is a great compilation of jazz,pop, indie,and rock all in a controlled and melodic way. THis is the kind of music that I think alot of people are looking for. Music that is intelligent,deep, yet highly melodic and accessible. Buy this album so these guys will keep creatingnew stuff.

I must first say that these guys have brought back a genre that hasn't seen too much light through the clounds ( I hope to see more of it). Indi-Jazz or just the flow of their music is phenominal. I don't mean to be biased but I get so tired of the mainstream flow of music that fills the radio stations nowadays. This band I'm sure has been through hell and back to bring us this melodic sound and I hope they get recognized for it! The lyrics really standout, and anything with a piano in it is A++ for me. I'm not to good at going into details about specific songs, but I was first introduced to them through TDAA, then their EP (btw.....excellent, check it out!). As the guy below me said....Listen to the song Rhythm, Cord and Melody and let TROK engulf you. A++ for this band, I hope to see more music from them in the future....Please support TROK!!!

The Reign Of Kindo creates music that falls somewhere between pop, jazz, and indie... Something intriguing and unique. TROK sounds just that way, and what great musicians they are!

"Rhythm, Chord & Melody" is a trip!

At first, after hearing the contrast of the songs from their 2007 debut EP, this album sounded less varied, but after listening to the songs a few times they become distinct.

Complex structures abound within TROK's memorable and jazzy songs. Yet still the songs are accessible and melodic. The one thing I feel this album might be missing is the really upbeat songs like "Just Wait" and "Hard To Believe" from their 2007 debut EP. Not to say there aren't upbeat songs! It's just that somehow, to me at least, none of the songs on here feel the same as the ones on the EP, which is okay. These songs amazing, but in a different way.

Rhythm, Chord & Melody is a really great album that I know will grow on me and soon attain five-star status. If you've been thinking about buying this, go for it. I don't believe you'll regret it. There's so much here to chew on... Every time I listen I hear something I didn't notice before. Great music.

...Also if you have a chance to see them live and you like their music, go see them. I feel that they are just as good live as they are on the recorded albums. Not enough bands stand up to the live show these days... TROK does. :)

I was a big fan of This Day and Age, and had worried that I wouldn't like the style as much when the jazz elements became more pronounced. I couldn't be more wrong. I'm not sure that I like this album better, but it sure does give the old stuff a run for it's money. Rarely does an album expand my musical horizons with such ease, hooking me with each track.

If forced to pick a favorite track, I'd go with "Till We Make Our Ascent", but this is a very solid effort start to finish.

Bought this album along with their EP immediately after seeing a live show in Buffalo, NY. These talented musicians are amazing live and I left needing to hear more. This album is absolutely beautiful and addicting. My favorites are "The Moments In Between" and "Breathe Again". Do your ears the favor and buy a copy of both of The Reign of Kindo albums.

It's difficult to identify a genre for Reign of Kindo. These are highly skilled musicians that play stepped up singer/songwriter-type songs, but at the same time, that's not giving them enough credit. I've listened to their former band, This Day & Age, but Reign of Kindo is definitely a step up from there.

I have found myself replaying both of their full-length CD's regularly; these songs don't grow old. Highly, highly recommended.

I have been listening to the members of this band since they were in This Day and Age. Absolutely wonderful music. HIghly recommended to anyone who enjoys indie, jazz, etc.

This album has influences taken from jazz, classic progressive rock, and indie rock. The piano and drums are usually busy sounding, but not distracting or overpowering. They only enhance the beauty of each track. The dynamics on this album are clear and it sounds like each instrument has breathing space. The vocalist tends to sing either slowly or at a moderate pace, while the music tends to be a bit faster. This offset makes for a very interesting listen. I'm not sure what scale the vocalist sings with, bit it doesn't sound like a typical major or minor one. I think he may be singing in a type of jazz scale but I'm not exactly sure. Whatever scale it is, it's interesting because the vocal melodies take a lot of unexpected turns. For clarity's sake, this is not a straight-up jazz album. It has some jazz elements, but it has a great blend of the above mentioned styles. I would label it as progressive indie jazz rock. It's a very fun and interesting listen because of all the intricacies in each track.

SHORT VERSION: I recommend this album to anyone who enjoys the technical details of music. Anyone who loves creative music with a fun, energetic and emotional feel to it.

this album deserves nothing less than 5 stars, i discovered this group after someone mentioned them on the petrucci forums(forum for guitarist of prog-metal band dream theater), the song "hold out" was posted and i really enjoyed it so i went out and got the "rhythm, chord & melody album and im sooo glad i did, this album grew on me like no other, i knew it was great on first listen but since then it has only gotten better and better!, its really hard to mention the standout tracks because there are sooo many great songs on this album, id say "breath again", "great blue sea", "til we make our ascent", "something in the way that you are", "i hear that music play", "morning cloud" and "hold out"

The Reign Of Kindo is comprised of: Joseph Secchiarolli on Lead Vocals/Guitar, Mike Carroll Guitar/Percussion, Kelly Sciandra on Keyboard/Backing Vocals, Steve Padin on Drums/Backing Vocals, and their newest member Jeff Jarvis on Bass. I've been loosely associated with the music industry for many years. I've listened to many a band attempt to remain true to their influences/roots, and still venture out onto "new grounds" landing a sound that is truly their own. I feel that The Reign of Kindo has done just that. Their sound contains influences from a wealth of differed and varied formats; Jazz, Pop, Rock, Indie, Ambient, New-Age....and you're gonna have a hard time putting them into any one category. You may hear the subtle nuances of Dave Brubeck on one tune and then the catchy riffs similar to a John Mayer tune in the next. Ryuchi Sakamoto and Pat Metheny are two other major influences to the group. But don't look for copycats, The Reign Of Kindo has a sound all their own. All in all these guys are giving us music we rarely get to hear and with such pleasurable harmonies and melodies. You will not regret picking up this album and don't be suprised if you're not singing these tunes in the shower and on the way to work in your car when you're not cranking up the volume while listening to them on your stereo. I even had the opportunity to meet them at one of their shows and they are awesome gentlemen with great character. Enjoy listening to them. They truly deserve to be heard! Cheers!
