This review is from: T'rung, Mini
This is not going to sound like a concert xylophone. It really isn't meant to. However, I've heard worse sounding xylophones that were meant for concert use, as well as better. It's more like a flat bamboo wind chime with mallets and a stand, for a comparison. The mallets themselves are quite small, compared to ones used in performance. That said, the xylophone itself is larger than I expected. The instrument doesn't resonate much, so rolls don't sound good. But it produces a decent sound for meditation. Assembly of the stand is required, but it only takes a couple minutes. There are directions on the bottom of the box, and the legs of the stand have holes in them for the cross beams. The string loops may need to be tightened to keep the lowest bar from resting on the stand, but once that is fixed, just pick up the mallets and play.
If you are looking for a unique world instrument for decoration or meditation, consider this one. It is a really beautiful piece for a great price.
