I bought this for my husband who has been a RUSH fan forever and I was very much looking forward to seeing the book myself. Also a strange coincidence is the author and new Mrs. Peart was a grade under me in High School and while we were not friends because we weren't in the same grade or had the same circle of friends, I do remember seeing her around and remember her to be quite a nice person. The book had been on backorder FOREVER - longer than 6 months, with the ship date being changed several times. Although, overall I think the book is nice, I think it lacks substance. I'm not a professional photographer, but I do like to look at pictures that are clear and in focus, regardless of the subject. Alot of the pictures were fuzzy, and I just don't understand why that was. I would have liked to see more pictures in focus - it would have make it much more interesting. Also, what really annoyed me, was the condition the book arrived in. Multiple scratches all over the book jacket. It was packed nicely, so it must have happened prior to shipping. A good collector's item for an avid RUSH fan, but still a little disappointing.

Rhythm & Light- true revelation,
By
This review is from: Rhythm & Light (Hardcover)
I ordered this book after reading Peart's Roadshow. My son is a drummer and has chosen drumming as his future profession, or should I say it seems to have chosen him some time ago. I wanted to see the photos taken of someone who is known for his chosen solitude. I also wanted to see the photos taken by someone who was in love with their subject, but trying to discover this secret passion, warts and all, without being a stumbling block in the process of capturing the reality.
Great photos. I think my favorite photos are Magic and Shattered. Magic is reminiscient of the expression I see when my son is playing "in the zone" and Shattered is a photo I hope to purchase one day for my son. This is a great gift for any Peart fan/drummer. A must have for any drummer's coffee table, or should I say "the large drum pad on legs sitting in their living room".

A Beautiful Love Story,

For Rush fans, this is a rare treat. One sees Neil Peart doing the unglamorous work it takes to be Neil Peart, bloody calluses and all. Carrie's technique evokes the unclear, shadowy world of creating something from nothing and the personal and spiritual gloom her husband was just emerging from the twin blows of losing his first wife and daughter a few years before. So, I disagree with other reviewers that the film is merely 'blurry'.
The thing that touched me the most was the dance of love and wonder Carrie's work beautifully illustrates between them. We see Carrie in awe as she discovers for the first time what her beloved husband does to become the Neil Peart she'd only heard of, not the man she married. The project started in part because they were newlyweds and couldn't stand to be separated by three time zones when Neil left to work on Rush's Vapor Trails album! I look forward to more of her work, and not just of Rush. She's a patient observer and recorder of the commonplace that shows more of a subject than an obvious head shot. Sandy Foster Brookhaven, NY

I expected more,

I am a huge RUSH and Neil Peart fan, and was very excited when I heard about and ordered this book. A few of the shots were amazing (sawdust on the china for instance.) Unfortunately, the great shots are few and far between. A few of the out of focus pics are cool, but an entire book of them is overkill. It seems also that only Freddy G is quoted. I would have preferred more variety, words from Gump or Geddy and Alex, and images of the collaborating as well. It just seems that with the unlimited access Carrie Nuttall was afforded, she could have done more than take "artsy" versions of pics we've seen before. Here's hoping the Roadshow Illustradted Companion gives us a little more.

Must have for fans of the Band Rush,

A spactacular tribute to the greatest drummer of all time. Neil is captured in black and white photos by his wife Carrie. The artistic use of light and dark contrasted to the subject who has defined musicality of rythum is amazing. I have been a fan of Rush and Neil Peart for a long time and have seen them over 40 times in concert. I have been a serious amature photographer for even longer and find this example of the combination of my love of music especially Rush and photography has hit a perfect 10 out of 10. Don't miss this fine piece of work!

Even as a huge Rush and Neil Peart fan, I was really disappointed by this book. Some of the pictures are just plain awful!
