the fathers of modern day techno and electronica,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rhythm & Rave (Audio CD)
This is an obscure cd that has eluded me for quite some time. From being traded back and forth between people of the scene at the time, few people know of Radioactive Goldfish. In my opinion, they are the fathers of modern electronica and predessors of techno. The rave scenes were built on this music and it continues to be played in the dark and crowded warehouses and packing plants today. If techno is palletable to you and the electronica scene today has you reminiscing about the first days of techno, then this cd is for you!!

Rave On,

Radioactive Goldfish's "Rhythm & Rave" is an early prototype of '90's Techno outside of the typical Detroit and Chicago sounds, paving the pathway for harder and more psycedelic groups and tracks. This album was one of the first to break away from the then trendier hip-house and "club" techno while advancing the harder acid-house underground. There are few groups to compare R.G. to, but L.A. Style, The Shamen, Quadrophonia and Utah Saints are in a similar ballpark. However, "Rhythm & Rave" was and is still a heavy hitter.

After All the others I still come back to this one.,

It was my first Techno CD and I have tried a lot of others including Oakenfold, Moby and several compilation CDs, but this one stays in the front of my collection. It is old school techno with hard-driving beats sampled with late 80's to early 90's dance songs and obscure movie sound bites. The sound clips listed above do not do the songs or the CD justice. Truly, it is a great CD to have from this genre.

first watch exorcist 3....i know...not the best movie out there but if you do watch this movie first, you'll realize that a lot of the "lyrics" are lines from this movie. Anyone else caught this? Try it....and the music is kinda old techno but still kinda trippy. have had this cd for a very long time already.

To sum it up, total old school techno. Pressed sometime around '92 this is a wonderful compilation of old school techno beats, jams, and hilarious samples from movies of the day. But please, remember to respect the Radioactive Goldfish by listening to it on only the best of equipment. It thumps, enough said. It will always remain a permanent cd in my collection of Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, BT, Orbital, ATB, etc, etc.Really >25, just didn't feel like logging in.
