Poppy rock / Rockin' pop,
By Real Genius (Milwaukee, WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rhythm Schism (Audio CD)
A strong debut album from the 4 piece Milwaukee area band known as Blame It On Cain (BIOC). The CD 'Rhythm Schism' is kind of sneaky good (and I mean that as a compliment). There isn't an anthem like rocker. There isn't a gimmicky single or flashy guitar histrionics. Instead you'll find a collection of well written and extremely catchy tracks that are simply damn fine pop/rock songs. There is of course the obligatory sappy ballad if you're into that sort of thing. This reviewer isn't but hey, the ladies will probably dig it!
The production quality of the CD is top notch. The opening bass line of 'Atuna' is a fine example of the overall well balanced clean sound found throughout 'Rhythm Schism' . The artwork is well done and the booklet includes full lyrics to all ten tracks. Bottom line: Blame It On Cain straddles the line between pop and rock with enough elements of each to satisfy fans of both genres. Standout tracks include: 'Yesterday's Happy', 'Atuna', '12 Gauge Handshake' and 'Give Me Money'. Swede, Founder of The FatCat Radio Network (fatcatradio.com) April '08 |
