Book Description

January 1, 2006
Rhythm is devised to bridge the gap between tablature and standard notation by concentrating on providing a basic understanding of rhythm, both conceptually and from a notational point of view. Hypothetically, anyone who works through this book could buy any other book for the guitar and be able to play music. The accompanying one-hour CD contains audio examples of the lessons in the book, with the answers to the assignments set to test your progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dear Mr. Mead, did you write this for ME?, July 23, 2006
This review is from: Rhythm: A Step by Step Guide to Understanding Rhythm for Guitar (Paperback)
Never before have I taken the time to review anything. So believe me, anybody who is rhythm-challenged, as I certainly am: This book/CD set of instruction is GREAT HUGE HELP! If you can devote the time and practice, this book has the potential to make a rhythmonger out of you. Here's a surprising bonus: Mr. Mead is very, very funny (Brit humor. I love it. Mr. Mead seemed to be writing to me when he referred to players who are scared to "'let go' and give their treasured instrument a good thrashing." Upon reading this, I did so, and my Parker Fly never sounded so hot in my hands! Things are going to be bloody different around here, from now on!) I'm compelled now to buy Mr. Mead's Ten Minute Guitar Workout now, having just read some rave reviews on the Amazon UK web site. Kudos, David Mead. Many, many THANKS!

First Sentence:
Okay, okay... I know that if we speak of the 'rhythm guitarist' as such, the image of a second-rate underdog player springs to mind, playing a tiresome, subordinate role to a far more experienced (and often inexcusably vain) lead player. Read the first page
