5.0 out of 5 stars What a BLAST!
I bought this game a couple of weeks ago because it was a 4 player game that our family could play together. Didn't have a clue what it would be like, but the cover was cute. We have had a blast with it. Both of my girls (age 7 & 12) love it and I have become addicted to the single player game to try and become the Frolf Champion. As you beat opponents you then get...

3.0 out of 5 stars fun for ages 4-8, but that's 'it!
This game is fun for about 5 minutes, but anyone over the age of 8 would tire of this game quickly. There is not much to do and the gameplay is repetitive. However, the age group it is aiming for will absolutely love this game. So get it for your young ones! Your 12-year-old will laugh in your face if you get him/her this. But, your 5-year-old will be forever in your...

As you beat opponents you then get those added to the players that you can chose from in the regular Frolf multiplayer game. We have been playing it almost every night for the last 2 weeks and have not tired of it yet.
Love it, Love it, Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is a Great Family Game, September 17, 2006

I cannot stress enough how much fun my family has playing this game. Why there can't be more oddball games like this available is beyond me.

I have actually reached a point when we play a regular golf game that I long to have my ball slide on ice or be eaten by a snake.

Mom, dad and 8 year old still play this, 2 years after we bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frolf- it's better than crack!, November 29, 2004
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ribbit King (Video Game)
I first played this game at 2004's E3. I picked up the controller because I liked the graphics...and they were giving away cute little zipper mascots. But I wound up playing for over 30 mins. The gameplay is seriously fun, although it's NOT complicated, or deep...which makes it a GREAT party game. (Multi-player is actually more fun than single player, in fact.)

Don't expect the profound existential questions of Square, or the amoral action of Rockstar's stuff. (Well, unless you consider frolf to be frog abuse..but the little guys do seem to enjoy their work.) But Ribbit King is what it is: a fun, frothy, a feast for the eyes and an addicitve little gem of an anodyne for modern life. And for under $20, it's a total keeper. Support game developers that are willing to take a risk and make a unique game; so don't just rent- buy this one!

We had this game years ago and the family loved it, we played it almost every night after dinner. Then we went to the PS3 and Wii and sold our PS2/games thinking "oh there would be something comparable surely" Not so...after several years now of waiting for a game as magical and well-rounded for the PS3 or Wii we have finally given up and purchased a PS2 to exclusively play our new Ribbit King game! YAY!! Silly I know, but it really is that fun :)

I bought Ribbit King upon impulse a few years ago because the box was cute. It turned out to be so much fun! Although the idea of using frogs as golf ball substitutes may seem a bit morbid, it is actually the most happy and cutesy game I've ever played. Everyone is smiley and is always up for a game of Frolf!

While story mode is fun, multiplayer with a couple of friends is the best. And it's not just a kid's game. I'm nearly 19 and it's as fun as can be. ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars A hidden jewel, January 30, 2008

Depending on what sort of gamer you are, this game can be one of the most worthwhile titles on the ps2.

The game-play is essentially like a simplified golf game - power bar, hit 'x' at the appropriate times; however, the fact that your ball is a frog, plus the addition of power-up items, edible flies, and wildly unpredictable obstacles on the course make for an exciting and truly unique gaming experience. Objects that should normally be avoided - lakes, bird nests, and elephants will actually add additional points, depending on the direction your frog swims or how successful you are at the micro-games that pop up when your frog lands near a hot spot. Not only will certain events earn you extra points, but most course objects cause your frog to travel in potentially plan-able but sometimes unforeseeable ways, and a long series of successful events will boost your score multiplier, making for some potentially very high scoring rounds, depending on the course, your skill, and a little luck.

The single player game is addictive if you enjoy the game-play. As you progress, you unlock new levels, frogs, items, silly videos (on the ribbit king plus dvd), and playable characters in multi-player. The single player campaign will keep you busy as it is quite long, and after the initial campaign is over, a new one begins with a completely different plot and greater challenges.

The multi-player (2-4 hotseat, using only one controller, if you wish) is what ties this game together. The easier levels are accessible to gamers and non-gamers of all ages and genders given the simple game-play and the wackiness of the courses. The advanced levels provide a distinct challenge for competitive gamers and those who have mastered some of the more subtle game mechanics and item use.

This is not necessarily a game for the hardcore gamer, but even some of you might really get a kick out of the nuances and accessibility, plus it's something that you can whip out with some friends. This game is a standby at our house, and is one of the only video games my wife will play with me regularly, or even suggest playing when we have a couple of friends over, and that makes it a big winner in my book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Cute Classic, April 9, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ribbit King (Video Game)
I bought this game just because it looked cute, and had a frog on the cover. I love anything to do with frogs. It is great for all ages, and is easy to play. The charactes are cute, and are Japanese. I am not a big fan of the Japanese Anime, but I love this game. I can play it for a few hours, or for a few minutes. You also have to decide which frog is best suited for where you are at. Thre is also different worlds in the game, everything form the grassy areas, to space, to ice and snow. The extra disc is really cute, with the cartoons of the frogs doing various things. The only bad thing, is that after a few hours it does get a little boring playing against the computer. But if you have someone to play it with, it is a great game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game for the family, April 2, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ribbit King (Video Game)
I had purchased this game based on all the reviews I have read. This is a great game for the family to play. It is very similar to golf except the ball is a frog. My son who is 3 loves this game, because it is easy for him to play, except for the part where if you want to be precise on where you want the frog to go. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that there are lots of glitches in the game. There are times when the frog hits a wall and keeps on hitting the wall and you have to reset the game. It also includes an extra cd which opens up a new movie clip when you finish a certain challenge. This game is so Japanese with all the cute characters. We love it. Plus for the price you can't beat it.
