Amazon.com Review
Frequently seen in the Victorian era but out of fashion for a long while after that, embroidered ribbon decoration has made a strong comeback and is once again a much-used adornment and a very popular craft. To help beginners get started, and to encourage stitchers of all levels to experiment with various techniques, these 30 projects are organized in increasing complexity, from an easy pincushion and needlecase, to an intermediate dressing-table set or picture frame, to a more complex evening ensemble. For added interest, a number of the projects incorporate beads, metallic threads, sequins, or lace in addition to a multitude of ribbons and a variety of background fabrics. One minor drawback: since the book is British, some of the materials specified may not be readily available in the U.S., but very close substitutes can easily be found.
