This book is ideal for the absolute beginner of Ribbon Embroidery.

It shows the basic steps and is very easy to follow.
It would have to be the best book that I have come across for someone wanting to learn and to start ribbon embroidery as it gives the basics before confusing the whole concept.
Ribbon embroidery is easy as !!!And to be able to create a magical piece of ribbon work is brilliant.
If this is what you want to do, you definitely need this book in your library as this book and its illustrations are for you.

9/12/12 review: Ribbon Embroidery: Simple Stitches for Easy Embellishments, by Natalie Bellanger-Clement, is a beautiful book! The paperback edition contains about 64 pages, and the photos and illustrations on each page are excellent. The instructions are clear, and the book is well written and organized in a thoughtful way. Pages 8-9 are devoted to "Tools and Materials," and pages 10-13 explain "Tips and Techniques," such as how to thread a needle with wide ribbon. Pages 14-55 describe and illustrate in detail - mostly in pinks and a few other pastels - the following topics: Small Repeating Stitches (pages 14-29), Line Stitches (pages 30-43), and Filled Stitches (pages 44-55). Each of the 3 sections just mentioned contains one "sampler pattern," which readers can copy and use to practice the stitches described.

The book closes with an "Index of Stitches" (pages 56-60) and an Index (page 61). The Index of Stitches is a handy "quick reference" guide, showing the name of each stitch, a close-up photo of the completed stitch, a line drawing of the stitch, and the page number on which the reader can find the detailed instructions for making the stitch. I can hardly wait to try my hand at making some of these stitches, and when I do, I know this book will help me, step by step, to produce a lovely finished product.
