I purchased this inexpensive lamp to keep in a closet and bring it out to use only during vacations with a timer so it would look like the house was occupied. However, it is much cuter than I had anticipated. The lamp is perfect as-is for a little girl's room. However, I think I will replace the only real ribbon, a glued-on pink gingham band, with Provencal yellow (it will pick up the yellow in the centers of the flowers) to go with my kitchen and I'll use it on my casual kitchen buffet. Upon close inspection, no one would mistake it for an expensive lampshade, as the color bands and the stitching are printed on the shade. But the shade is sturdy, balanced, and well made. The 60-watt lamp base is perfect, and could pass for something more costly. This little lamp is a good value at a very reasonable price.
