Saulo is all about reviewing what you thought you knew and giving finer points of adjusting your techniques it's not a encyclopedia of moves instructional. Rather an evolution of the sound basics.

Thanx Saulo....returned to training under Patrick McCarthy Sensei at 50 years old after 25 year lay-off. Dojo has MMA gym and newaza is central to curriculum. Despite extremely patient, world-class instruction, i'm hopeless on the ground and a REALLY slow learner. Neede something equivalent to "grappling for dummies"....too many DVD resources are pitched way above entry level novice and assume significant prior knowledge/ experience. This DVD set avoids that, providing practical insight to the fundamental principles and 'big picture' while containing plenty of stuff for athletes of all ability levels. Great stuff....thanx Mr. Rubeiro.

Saulo Ribeiro is an excellent instructor. This DVD has chapters for each of the six DVDs. He explains the techniques based on principles. For example: "No matter what, don't lose contact with the hips when in side control." That kind of advice is woven through the DVDs and helps me focus during training and keep things simple. I was able to train the next day, after each DVD I saw, with vast improvement. (I am a blue belt) Each DVD is about an hour.

You often hear about leverage in BJJ, but seeing it makes a difference and it will rock your game. I am huge fan of Saulo BJJ since I got his Jiu Jitsu University book. I own other good BJJ DVD's and books but Saulo's instructions are the ones that made me understand the core and fundamentals of BJJ and its philosophy of leverage. Saulo BJJ DVD's are not about quantity but quality, these are not DVD with 100 moves you cannot follow. You will get here the building blocks of BJJ. I train in a great school with the best in the world but in the class with other students you only get glimpses of BJJ and it take log time to learn it. The DVD's are like your private lessons with Saulo who will share with you the secrets of BJJ he uses, no nonsense convoluted combination but true, bare and honest BJJ moves you can adapt. The best part you can watch them over and over again, by the way I have all Saulo DVD's 1, 2 and No Gi (including the best BJJ book you can get), simply mast have material for any BJJ practitioner level.
