This is a old-fashioned simply designed bag...a rectangle box on wheels. It does not have thousands of little pockets for each and every kind of item you are carrying. However, it does the job. Depending on how much you pack, it can be a weekend bag or a week. I took this bag on a cruise using it for two children. I have the 24" Melrose as well. The cruise was for a week. It stored all the clothes they needed plus the extras: souvenirs, etc. This was not just "everyday" clothes either. I'm talking about swimming trunks, costumes for various nightly entertainment (pirate party, etc...this was Disney!)
The colors are so awesome too! I must admit, this is what first attracted me to the set! In some photos, the orange looks very bright, like the fruit. But in reality, it is more of a darker, more subtle "grown up" orange. The really neat thing was that it was so easy to spot on the belt at the airport! Amongst the red, black, and blue suitcases, there was no mistaking this was my bag!
The bag is sturdy. It is not just a pretty face. You know how bags take a beating at the airports! It came off the belt smudged. But it was so easy to clean up with foamy upolstery cleaner. (I scotchgarded it before my journey!). The wheels are durable too. I've had damaged luggage wheels one too many times. But this one held up just fine. The handle, well..."handles" like a dream too! The bag, even when stuffed, does not cause the handle to bend or curve like some cheaper bag handles do. This one is a good quality!
As for pockets, yes, it does have some. The front one was nice to store a sweater. We left from a cold climate only to go to VERY warm Florida! So we started in sweaters and once we landed the sweater stored very nicely in the pocket up front. Inside there is a nice flap thing. I used this for the kids' pre-cruise attire: one outfit, pajamas, socks, etc...you know the quick needs. We stayed at a hotel the night before the cruise and when the cruise arrived home. This pocket is nice in that you can put that hotel set together without messing up the rest of the stuff and then have to re-pack in haste!
Like I said, I have the 24" bag and all the other bags in the Melrose collection. My only wish is that they would have made a suit-bag, cosmetics case, and toiletry bag. I think Ricardo Beverly Hills missed the boat on that one considering this really looks like a woman's kind of luggage set. I can't speak for everyone but I sure like everything to be coordinated. The orange is hard to match and I did not want to go with a black bag. I want my stuff to be very visable when I pick it up on the conveyor belt!
Anyway, I think if you are looking for something basic in function yet fun in color, this bag is the ticket!

A great piece of luggage. Every time we use it people admire the colors. There are not many out there (we haven't seen another yet), so it is easy to pick out of the luggage carousel. We have been using almost a year and it seems like it will last a long time. It fits in overhead bin for international trips. Some airports won't let you carry it on for domestic trips, because it is a bit big.

It adds a splash of color to life and is a good value for money.
