They got married she left him because she felt he was smothering her (giving her everything without her opinion). She didn't even try to talk to him about it. She just left him a note without fully explaining why and walked out on him. She was 20 years old but she kept on saying she was just a child when she married him. They met again after one year and they ended up having sex and she got pregnant.

Although I liked the book I still felt Roxane was cold, spoiled, selfish and ungrateful. She was also abusive (threw her shoe at his face; left a cut) and never apologized. I thought he loved her so much that he will do anything for her but it also made him looked like a very weak male. I thought he was definitely not alpha male. Maybe Ms. Clair was trying to make him sound sensitive but he ended up sounding like he was so obsessed with her. Still it was a good read.
