Book Description

August 26, 2008 Dafina Books
From Essence® bestselling author Daaimah S. Poole comes the sultry tale of two women who discover that the fastest way out of debt is to have a rich man's baby...

Tanisha Butler doesn't want to spend the rest of her thirties as a lonely single mother, just like Adrienne Sheppard is sick of wasting her twenties without a man in sight. No, these sistahs want money and security and they want it now. So they come up with the perfect plan: have a rich man's baby and walk away with a fat chunk of his cash for child support. They won't have to work or play wifey, and they'll get to enjoy life while they're still young.

Before long, Adrienne scores big by making an NFL star a proud papa. Tanisha snags a pro basketball player in Europe. Their plan is working--until Adrienne's man finds out about all the other rich athletes in her past. And Tanisha's man comes back to the U.S. only to discover that his ex, Dionne, suddenly wants him back. Now Dionne is dead-set on getting rid of Tanisha, while Tanisha is determined to hang on to her baby's rich daddy. All three are about to find out that getting exactly what you want can be a very dangerous game...

"Colorful...if you love scandal, this is the book for you!" --Anna J

"Everything that glitters damn sure ain't gold in Daaimah's new delivery of drama!" --Miasha

3.0 out of 5 stars Haven't They Ever Heard of the Internet, CSI, or Law and Order?, July 19, 2009

I listened to the audio book and was particularly impressed by the narrator for Dionne's chapters. The storyline about the three main characters, Tanisha, Adrienne, and Dionne was very interesting, and I would have rated the book with at least 4 stars if it had not been for the sloppy ending. I won't rehash the plot since the previous posters have already summarized the theme of the book. The conclusion was disappointing because it was based on the premise that none of the characters were aware of today's technology. For instance, surveillance cameras in public areas track our every movement; ballistic tests can link guns to crimes; and the Internet allows us to keep track of the news in every corner of the world. This is why the ending of the novel defied logic. I will continue to enjoy the author's books, but I hope she puts more thought into the ending of future books. Her preceding novels were superior to this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating 3.5) The Big Pay Day, August 26, 2008
By
The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Rich Man's Baby (Dafina Books) (Paperback)
Some women think it is easier to take other's money rather than work and make their own. These women may feel this way because for years men have played on their hearts by deceiving them into believing they were loved when they were actually taking advantage of love struck women. Some women believe they have the right to manipulate and take men to the cleaners.

Tanisha Butler and Adrienne Sheppard are women who decided they could make huge paydays by dating basketball and football players, why not? The men wanted sex and the women wanted security. So what would be wrong with having a rich man's baby? After all, they played on women and even their wives, so there would be no harm done, right?

With good looks and great bodies, it doesn't take long for these two women to snag their men and potentially secure their future. Although they have jobs, they want more and they get it with the money the men have to throw around. But all that glitter is not gold, and they both find out playing games can get you hurt.

Daaimah S. Poole has written a book that is true to the game of women seeking sports figures and celebrities to hit the big payday. A RICH MAN'S BABY IS a fast page-turner filled with drama and it is certainly an enjoyable and fun read. Unfortunately, the ending was too unrealistic and made the one character, who seemed to have a conscious and morals, appear like an idiot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daaimah's Best Book!, October 7, 2008

I've been a fan of Daaimah's since her first book, Yo Yo Love. This author is all grown up now and her new novel, A Rich Man's Baby is her best books. Daaimah has definitely stepped up her game and that's saying a lot because all her novels are page turners. Now, I'm impatiently waiting for the sequel to this one.
