Book Description

February 28, 2008
Most young adults spend more time thinking about what to wear each day than about their finances. It’s too bad, because time really is on their side when it comes to investing. The earlier they start, the more successful they'll be. Just ask Leslie Scorgie. By 10, she had her own savings account. Now 23, she's well on her way to becoming a millionaire. In this practical guide written in a friendly, accessible voice, the author shares the secrets of her success. Rich by Thirty offers young people practical advice and solid information on a wealth of financial topics, including the differences between saving and investing; why a young person should invest; learning how to budget; avoiding credit card traps; the dangers of unrealistic expectations; and how to choose the right investment vehicles. The book also features worksheets, a resource section, and a glossary of money terms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for beginners, July 17, 2011
This review is from: Rich by Thirty: A Young Adult's Guide to Financial Success (Paperback)
I am approaching 30 and don't have much experience with finances beyond paying my bills. I know very little about investing and find it frustrating that most books I read seem to assume I already have some moderate knowledge. I started looking for a book that was basic and yet informative. This book is definitely the one I was looking for and wish I had it 10 years ago. It is definitely geared towards those in their mid-teens to early twenties, very approachable and easy to follow. The author does a pretty good job of expressing the importance of saving and investing.

I highly recommend this book to anyone just starting to realize how important financial knowledge is, regardless of their age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Rich by Thirty: A Young Adult's Guide to Financial Success (Paperback)
Great simple finance book for starters, she does not have tons of characters and their personal stories. Just clear and direct rules and points, explicit definition for confusing terms, and full of motivation.

I love this book. It started me in the financial word. Two thumbs up for Leslie Scorgie and the deliverer that offered good service: book in the declared conditions and on time.
