5.0 out of 5 stars Richard Clayderman the greatest pianist
This CD is excepts from all the great concerto's Just the beautful,or the melodic music out of all the famous concerto's. Accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra it just beautiful. I wonder if Clayderman is capable of making a bad CD?

5.0 out of 5 stars Richard Clayderman Admiration Society, August 16, 2005

Richard Clayderman first came to my attention in the early 1970's when I used to spend a lot of time in Europe on business. He has a very distinctive piano style when playing either classical or popular. His backup band for popular music, including excellent drums, tuba, violins and more, is very good.

This particular album, if you like classical music played with a flair, is excellent; so good, in fact, that I am buying additional copies for special people.

And, yes, I am well over the age of 13.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any collection., June 25, 2001
This review is from: Richard Clayderman Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Audio CD)
To play the piano well takes years of commitment and dedication, and Richard Clayderma proves that he is a talented pianist in this classical cd. This cd contains a wide selection of popular pieces, including Beethoven's well-known Fur Elise and his haunting and superb Moonlight Sonata. Various classical composers are well represented in this fabulous cd, including Franz Liszt, whose magnificent piece entitled "Liebestraum" is played beautifully by Clayderma. This cd is definitely one to play during any time of the day, for it provides not only relaxing music, but it also gives listeners the valuable opportunity to be exposed to music that stirs the soul.

Richard Clayderman has put together an excellent CD. His great selections plus the Orchestra background make this a very classy CD and definitely a must-buy for even the average music lover.

Of all the CDs I own, both modern and classical in nature, this one has to be the most relaxing of them all. However, it is anything but boring. The pieces are performed very well and are quite soothing. Some of them are well-known piano concertos while others have not been recorded as frequently. Although Richard Clayderman is perhaps best known for performing piano versions of pop songs, this disc showcases his all-around ability to play piano.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1, November 15, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Richard Clayderman Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Audio CD)
I am --------, and I have played Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. An expressive work which requires great passions, Clayderman has often been too loud, breaking the melodious balance between the orchestra and the piano. I was tuned off already by the first few chords, which were struck too loudly. There also lacks a element of surprise and Russian animosity in this recording, which Jorge Bolet and Evgeny Kissin both capture in their recordings with Dutoit and Karajan, respectively.

1.0 out of 5 stars For non-serious listeners only!, January 7, 2008

This review is from: Richard Clayderman Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Audio CD)
Well, what can you say about Richard Clayderman? Anything one says about him says more, in truth, about his audience... naive non-specialist listeners who, at least, are not listening to Rap. But for any serious musician or listener, Clayderman's work and approach sticks in the craw. His music is one step away from a synthesizer. Though it's no worse than the piano music published for amateurs in the nineteenth century, with the same banal melodies and utter lack of musical sophistication, we get the impression that he knows he is a well-paid hack.

Proof positive: Watch his youtube video of the Tschaikovsky Concerto desecration. I say "watch", as his hands most often have nothing to do with the music. The microphone is off, thankfully, as he "plays" to a previously-made recording, just slapping his fingers here and there, while his face emotes those counterfeit feelings that drive his innocent, impressionable fans wild.

He is apparently a beloved figure in the middle-of-the-road pop-classical world, notably in third-world countries. He has found his niche, works hard and easily pays the rent. I guess he has reached as far as he cares to. Clayderman is not a musician, he is an "entertainer". And yes, I detest him for his mistreatment of the music I love.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Peak Of Romantic Classics, January 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Richard Clayderman Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Audio CD)
While Richard Clayderman is not well known in the USA, his work is commonplace in South Africa and Europe. I enjoyed the original LP version of this CD as a 8 year old and through the wonders of e-commerce have been able to track the CD down. I loved his rendition of Beethoven's work so much that I used the music for the bridal march at my wedding.Definately worth the ten bucks if you're a Romantic Classic nut.
