Book Description

October 1, 2004
Richard Harris was a genius whose frenzied existence sometimes overshadowed his enormous talent. Over 45 years, his career spanned small theatrical productions and Hollywood blockbusters. Renowned for his roles in classics like Mutiny on the Bounty, A Man Called Horse, Camelot, The Field, and Unforgiven, Harris’ off-screen drinking and womanizing with fellow hell-raisers Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole also brought him notoriety. Although few people accompanied Harris for any duration on the roller-coaster ride of his life, award-winning writer, director, and fellow Irishman Michael Feeney Callan joined the ride and stayed the course. After striking up a warm friendship with the actor in the mid-‘70s, Callan embarked on an authorized biography. To mark Richard Harris’ passing, Callan has revisited and expanded on his original book to create this fresh and revealing tribute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its all here..and I like it, December 13, 2006
This review is from: Richard Harris: Sex, Death & the Movies (Paperback)
If youre a fan of Richard Harris, as I am ,you'll enjoy this biography very much. Richard Harris's life was eccentric on-screen and off; a truly gifted talent of cinema. I recommend watching Man in the Wilderness, Juggernaut, or the Cassandra Crossing. Watch Harris(in fine form) in the Harry Potter movies. Also, Pick up one of his music cds if you can.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate, complete and definitive, August 10, 2011

Without a doubt, this is as close to an authorized work as you'll get on the complex and unique story of Richard Harris. The author spent years building his research, and benefited from the trust and one on one input of Mr Harris himself. It's certainly not a self serving piece of work by any means, wort's and all though, it's a complete portrayal of one of the last true originals.
