5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so glad I gave it a chance
I bought this video sight unseen by default when my children's book club sent it to me by accident. It turned out to be one of the happiest accidents ever.
At first I assumed that my then-two-year-old son would be bored by a musical story of little animated animals wandering through Mother Goose land (This is a kid who worships Bob the Builder). One day I put it...

1.0 out of 5 stars should be more entertaining
I bought this for my grandsons (ages 11 & 10 months). They were bored to death!!! Not much more to say except I guess you get what you pay for.

One day I put it in when a favorite TV show was preempted by the news, and he was entranced. Soon the production-quality tunes were stuck in both our heads and we could be heard 'round the house singing "little Bo Peep" and "Three Little Kittens who lost their mittens". This a great way to memorize nursery rhymes and they will stick with him for life.
In a world of slickly animated action cartoons designed to plug kids for merchandise, this Richard Scarry video is a breath of fresh air your family should not be without.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-notch video for your little ones, October 25, 2000

This is a WONDERFUL video, innocent, sweet and magical. The animation is delightful, in visually appealing colors that will remind you of your favorite Mother Goose Book. The characters are fun and imaginative, articulate and soothing. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the "Merry Old King Cole" segment. To top it all off, the singing is absolutely incredible, with no less than broadway-quality voices. You will even find yourself singing these songs. After watching this video several times, I had the song "Little Boy Blue" in my head. So one morning I started singing it as I was getting my daughter dressed...she stopped to listen and then clapped afterwards. This video is a must for your little one's collection, and is worthy of passing down from generation to generation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good content, October 30, 2002

I'm not a big fan of TV/videos for young children, but this DVD is one of the few exceptions in our house. My 2 year old son loves Huckle and Lowly the worm -- since we have a Mother Goose book, the songs are all familiar to him and that much more fun to see in action. The animation is not jerky and fast like some other videos and is a perfect 30 minutes in length. Definitely recommend this one for the preschoolers!

I ordered this video for my son about a week ago and he won't watch anything else. I'm very impressed with Scarry's interpretation of the Mother Goose tales. It is a *very* well done, tasteful adaptation, with several twists of humor and irony for the parents' enjoyment. It is short and sweet, and leaves one with a good dose of the "warm fuzzies." It is my favorite medium for teaching Mother Goose so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for 1- and 2-year-olds!, July 29, 1999

My mother purchased this video for my (now) 2-year-old twins, and they absolutely love it! It reinforces the Mother Goose rymes and songs they hear from books and other sources (i.e. Barney), and they love the music. My husband and I even learned the tunes to the Mother Goose rymes we have enjoyed for years. It is a much-requested video in our house (which contains many children's videos). I HIGHLY recommend it to any parents who need 30 minutes here and there to get things done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and simple! Cute animals, nice songs, not annoying., March 25, 1999

My daughter (who has a ton of videos) absolutely adores this video. It is her favorite and she always wants to watch it again. Interestingly enough, these productions are quite low-tech when compared to things like Blue's Clues, Barney, etc., but something about them is very endearing. The music is well-done, and the voices of the characters are cute and well-chosen. All the classic nursery rhymes are here such as "Old King Cole," "Little Boy Blue" "Hey Diddle Diddle," "Little Bo Peep," "Old Mother Hubbard," etc. If you can get past the slightly hokey animation, you'll probably enjoy this simple, sweet rendition of Mother Goose (or at least your 2-year-old will).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Mother Goose Video!, October 15, 1999

This video is simply delightful. It's a great bedtime video for the little ones. My 2 1/2 year old son has learned to sing the nursery rhymes and knows where Huckle Cat will look next for his friend Lowly Worm. Again the animation is a bit amaterish but worth hours of viewing fun for the little ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars adorably sung, easy to listen to, October 4, 2003

I adore this DVD. If you loved Richard Scarry books as a kid, you will have every reason to appreciate this DVD. Huckle leads you through Mother Goose Land on a search for Lolly Worm and on the way meets many of the characters from the Mother Goose books. The songs are simple, sweet, and well sung with good accompanying music. Runs at about 30 minutes with no replay feature, but well worth the buy. My 15 month old daughter is fixated on this video.

This is the best series of infant/toddler videos EVER! My daughter has been watching them for about 4-5 months and she asks for "Huckle" and "Lowly" every night before bed. She has actually learned some of the songs and she's only 19 months old! We own every one of these fun and educational videos!
