5.0 out of 5 stars Love this tape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my favorite of all of Richard Simmons's tapes. The workout is fun, easy to follow and can be done with a lot of gusto for a solid, sweaty workout or (I blush to admit this) sort of half heartedly and I still will get my heart beating. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of his best efforts....
I have owned and used many of Richard's videos and enjoy each one for different reasons. Sweatin' to the Oldies 3 fell short, IMHO due to the simple fact that the choreography was choppy and very difficult to follow. I took years of dance and I couldn't follow the moves. Strange too, because it is the ONLY one of his videos I've had any problems following. Please decide...

This review is from: Richard Simmons - Sweatin' to the Oldies, Vol. 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is my favorite of all of Richard Simmons's tapes. The workout is fun, easy to follow and can be done with a lot of gusto for a solid, sweaty workout or (I blush to admit this) sort of half heartedly and I still will get my heart beating. Tiny breaks between every song give me just enough time to keep hydrated and the music, set and overall production values are high. There's that motivational bit at the end, where you can see how much people have lost and even some funny outtakes.
Not to mention a thorough warm up and cool down - a step so many other videos seem to skimp on and for me the difference between feeling energized and invigorated and being sore and stiff.

I shudder to think of the day my copy gives out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, February 22, 2003

Someone gave me this tape 6 or 7 years ago and I think I looked at it once and put it away. During a remodeling spree I uncovered it and watched it to see if I should keep it. 12 lbs and 2.5 inches later (approx. 2mos) I'm looking for the Sweatin to the Oldies 3. Richard is fun - a bit corny - but who cares. The people that Richard chose are real people with real weight problems not the other 3% that all of us have been conditioned to believe that we should look like. It keeps my heart rate up and I feel wonderful afterwards. I use it 4 to 5 times per week without very little motivation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for pre-teens or anyone with long term excersize needs, October 10, 2003

This review is from: Richard Simmons - Sweatin' to the Oldies, Vol. 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the best tape I own. I have been using it daily for 7 months and have dropped 78lbs so far (42lbs to go!). This tape does not try to exhaust you but instead target that 120 bpm range for the 25 minute of recommened exercise along with two target stretch songs and a warm up and cool down song (total 10 songs) it is perfect if your looking for something you can talk yourself into doing everyday. No way could I ever do an "exhaust-O" tape and keep with it for this long. The songs are upbeat and fun which I think kids would like too.

Strange too, because it is the ONLY one of his videos I've had any problems following. Please decide for yourself; I returned mine and am using several other videos of Richard's instead.

I would have to say this is one of the best aerobics videos out there. although it can be complicated sometimes, but isn't all aerobics like that. I love seeing various types of people doing the exercise with me. It makes me feel that if those people can do it, so I can I. Unlike other tapes where I feel I can't become like them. It has great songs and wonderful cool down time. So if your having a hard time catching up with other aerobics video, this is for you. This is a stepping stone for the high impact aerobics.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Great Richard - From an overweight exerciser, August 26, 2002

This review is from: Richard Simmons - Sweatin' to the Oldies, Vol. 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Fun and Challenging. Only one short twisting sequence that is a bit difficult on standard pile carpeting. Plenty of short pauses where you can grab some water. 55 Minutes of exercise.

I like this video because I quickly picked up most of the steps and could keep up. When I first began, I could get only about a third through the tape (due to my lack of fitness) but each day I do a little more. I like most of the music and particularly enjoy the cool-down section which is very relaxing.

4.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Richard Simmons Tape, March 4, 2002

This review is from: Richard Simmons - Sweatin' to the Oldies, Vol. 3 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I am surprised the other reviewers found this workout difficult to follow. This is the first Richard Simmons dancing tape I bought, and it's the one I do most often. I have others like Dance Your Pants Off and Disco Sweat, but Sweatin' to the Oldies 3 seems to have better/easier choreography. I found the others more difficult to follow.
Granted, there are a few moves that are difficult for me to do, and a couple of songs/dances I could REALLY do without (i.e. Rockin' Robin), but overall I feel this is a great video. I generally alternate it with my Tae Bo and Kathy Smith tapes, yet it gives me just as good of a workout.

I have a library of VHS tapes and cookbooks by Richard. This tape is not one I usually pick up first. However, I enjoy changing them around and vary them throughout the month. I had a little bit more trouble following this one. For a baby boomer such as myself, sweatin' with Richard is a good way to try to stay limber and feel better about one's self. But if I were on a budget, tape one or two would be my pick.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweatin' to the Oldies 3, May 27, 2002

I bought this video after buying Sweatin' to the Oldies 2 and getting to know the people exercising. I was hoping most of the same people would be on this one, but there were only two.. On this video I am not as interested in the people because they seem more like professional dancers...On the first video, some of the people were making mistakes and not dancing all that well which made it easier to relate to..I know there is one professional dancer on this one because she is very slim and tries to look sexy all the time. Some of the dance moves on this tape change so fast I can't keep up...There are some moves that, I guess because I am kind of uncoordinated, I still can't seem to get the hang of. I like most of the songs except Rockin' Robin.
