The bolster hits the board not letting the blade fully go through the item being cut.

I was wanting to get knives that were not serrated and it is very hard to tell if they are or not from the pictures.
Lindsey Dunajcik
The blades don't grab any type of food well and the knives slip, making them dangerous.

Ok, first thing I want to say is that I bought this complete set elsewhere on closeout for nine bucks. So a lot can be forgiven for such a price. Thus the three stars. If I gave full price it would be ZERO stars or since thats impossible, one star. I only bought them because they are "forged" and I have had good experience with Chinese forged kitchen knives in past. Also I have tools and experience to modify the silly serrated steak knife edge they put on these knives.

Second, if you do not have tools or experience to reshape the blade edges, dont buy these. You will NOT be happy with them as they come out of the blister package. The bread knife has scalloped edge which with a bit clean up to flat back side of the edge, made it function fine. The rest of the knives are single bevel serrated edge like a cheap steak knife, and as others have commented, really horrible to try to use that way. Not sure what the company person that ok'd production of such an edge on kitchen knives was thinking. Obviously nobody at the company actually tried to use these knives in real world, before offering them for sale.

But if you do have tools and knowledge/experience, you can grind off the serrated edge and form a narrow angle, two bevel regular sharp knife edge which functions much better. These are the same metal as all the Chinese forged kitchen knives whatever brand they are sold under. The metal takes and holds proper narrow angle, two bevel regular knife edge very well. No these arent exotic powdered steel knives with super hardness. But they arent hundreds of dollars per knife either. And most people arent iron chefs cutting/chopping things 24/7 either.

This product is a bad imitation of the brand name. The knives are too thick; this wouldn't be bad if the blades weren't as dull as they are and could cut the food as easy as the genuine Richardson Sheffield knives do. The blades don't grab any type of food well and the knives slip, making them dangerous. The packaging is deceiving because it shows the laser-cut grooves on the side you see; the opposite side has no laser cut so they will have to be sharpened even when the description says never do it. I agree with the other reviewer; I took them from the package and already can see the red under the coating so they will rust or peel, even if washed by hand. I'm giving them two stars because the size of the parer and the all-purpose are the correct sizes. If you need knives, buy the Laser Soft Touch that are really sharp, but be aware, the smaller size is really a small cook knife, not a standard parer or all-purpose size. Have some 17-year old knives of this brand and are still as sharp as the first day even when I use them to cut anything (even plastic packaging) and wash in dishwasher daily. Very dissapointed about this product. My mistake I didn't use them earlier so I could return the two sets I bought.

A little disappointed with these knives, they have one edge that's serrated. Very hard to keep sharp and they don't cut straight plus load up with sinue when cutting beef. I have another set of Sheffield knives without the serrations, cut much better and are a snap to sharpen. No wood block was included with the set either. These were a gift to a relative, should have returned them.

I was wanting to get knives that were not serrated and it is very hard to tell if they are or not from the pictures. These looked like they weren't, I was very disappointed when they arrived. I will not be buying knives online again, some things are just better to buy in person.
