This is one of a series of CDs from Motown that repackages earlier works from different artists in an attempt to maximize corporate revenue. Having said that, there is some good stuff on this CD, and it is cheap, making it a respectable value. Rick James is a talented musician, singer, and songwriter, so if you want an introduction to one of the kings of the bass line, this is a good place to start. It is not all inclusive, by any means, but does at least have the one thing every Rick James fan needs, namely "Super Freak", probably his ultimate recording.

This collection isn't great, but it is good. For an introduction to Rick James this works very well.

Rick James gives up The Funk on this Must have set.as Writer,arranger,Producer,Instrumentalist,VOcalist Rick James can do it all.This Set reflects on Many of His Greatest Jams.Rick is a Musical Genius who Doesn't get the full Love he deserves.all of these cuts are Bangin".

Rick James had them Jams that moved your whole being. I mean these Jams are timeless from start to finish. Mary Jane, You and I, Give it to Me baby, Super Freak, dance wit me,cold blooded are all cuts that never ran out of Groove. Strong Production and RIck's vocals brought the soul always. Rick Blended alot of Hybrids and made them all as one in his Musical stew.
