this is a good record--buy or die, baby doll. but seriously, how often do great writers deign to participate in the lowculture world of popular music? Here's one instance. there must be a reason

5.0 out of 5 stars Are you a Rick Moody fan? Or do you like unusual records?, July 20, 2004

This is a very unique CD, one of those strange and precious recordings that defies easy categorization. It's a spoken word record from the fabulous author Rick Moody (The Ice Storm, The Black Veil), but it's also a musical record. Moody delivers two extended spoken word performances - one a funny homage to the rock band Deep Purple, the other a much more intense and emotional performance - backed by the musical accompaniment of New York City's One Ring Zero, the house band for Dave Egger's McSweeney's Press. It's an interesting and rewarding CD and you probably don't have anything like it in your collection!
