Editorial Reviews

Maybach Music Group (MMG) is a label imprint founded by Hip Hop artist and entrepreneur Rick Ross. Maybach Music Group's roster currently includes rappers Wale, Meek Mill and Stalley who have all become part of Warner Bros. Records roster. This third collection from the label includes tracks from those artists as well as new signing Omarion, Lil Snupe, Gunplay and others.

Customer Reviews

Rick Ross continues his dominance with his cohorts MMG!

To me it seemed like they put all their bad songs on the album with a couple good ones just to make a dollar.
Eric
Now it seems like Ross is trying to capatilize on his limelight and push artist that aren't push worthy.

Rick Ross carries this compilation of fresh rap/hip hop jams. This is the soundtrack for Fall, 2013.
"Lay It Down" is at once, hard hitting and haunting. "Stack On My Belt" is another one that strikes some fear. Ross's smooth power vocals set the tone. One of the most interesting tracks is Wale's "Black Grammys" with a nod to old school pop soul. It's addictive. If "strong parental advisory" tracks could cross over, this one would. Irresistable hooks, great mood, slick production. Another highlight is "Poor Decisions" by Wale. With 16 tracks, this compilation is packed with strong material. Is it the best of the "Self Made" series so far? Can't answer that. They are all good in different ways. But this is a really great effort by executive producer Mastermind! Seems as though if you have an open mind and aren't a homer----Rick Ross has a midas touch. Everything he's involved with rocks hard. No exception here. Buy it. Play it loud. Enjoy.

A decent album to listen but nothing to go crazy about. A few good features by Pusha T, Fabulous and lupe makes the album better. The first few songs are alright and then the album gets a little better after that. But its nothing special about the album, the same old same old.

3 stars out of 5.

This is a decent CD and I get the purpose of these group efforts is to promote the newer less known artist by attaching their music to the likes of hit artist like Rick Ross, Wale, and Meek Mill. That being said the songs where those artist are present are the ones that get listens and make other tracks skippable. My least favorite song on this CD is "Stack on my Belt", that one line repeated what seems like 1000 times through out the song makes it annoying to me.

I just hope MMG doesn't fall into the same trap as most of the great rap labels/crews of the late 90's and early 2000's and start signing everyone with or without talent and dilute the brand. As it stood with just Rick Ross, Wale, Meek Mill, Stalley, and Omarion I believe they offered good music with each artist having their own niche. Now it seems like Ross is trying to capatilize on his limelight and push artist that aren't push worthy.

Self Made 3 is a overall solid cd - there are at least 10 very good tracks on this. New sound from the production team and solid verses from the MMG crew. Well worth the buy!

This album quality as far as artists yet it lacks the street fire. Overall this record fails to measure up to the 1st two self made volumes it has moments but lacks with deficiencies which could be made up by dropping some of the so called great mmg rappers.
