This is my third trip to Europe. I have used Rick's books both times before. I always get the newest one and read it cover to cover, underlining the parts that are most important to my trip planning. I've packed less each trip and enjoyed it more, seeing places I would have missed if I hadn't read his books. Why not listen to the voice of so much experience?!

Ideal for new visitors to Europe. We tear apart tour books and carry only pertinent pages with us. Inexpensive prices make this possible.

Rick gave me a lot of information...the one that you received from a friend who have travelling skills.
A made a mistake, I should have bought The Best of Europe guide, because it was my first time in Europe so I wanted to visit the highlists, I did have time for backdoors...anyway... this guide helped me a lot to prepare my trip, organize and understand which transportation media to use, etc etc.

This is the best reference book I ever encountered for the type of international travel I really love: living like a local, visiting the real places, meeting the real people and spending a lot less money than if I were "going thru the front door" . Thank you very much Rick Steves!
Sincerely, Rolando Zerquera, Miami, FL

Europe is very different from being in the U.S. Rick Steves offers so much helpful advice on how to blend in and not stand out as a tourist from the USA. I found his advice particularly helpful (and alarming) when it came to tips to avoid being a victim of crime, such as pickpocking, etc. If one is traveling to Europe, you owe it to yourself and those in the countries where you are traveling, to try and communicate effectively, therefore, minimizing stress.

Covers much helpful advice and important info for young hostelers, and less affluent travelers, of any age... to get the most pleasure from a trip to Europe.

An excellent resource. Rick Steves has finished setting up his publishing business and is back on the beat scoping out Europe for you. [BRAVO!] Combine this book with: Party Europe, Second Edition (Now This Is Life) and give them a read BEFORE your departure and you will be doing yourself and your travel party a great service. One caveat: the Party Europe book does not cover areas outside the most popular tourist destinations [but by inference it does provide what one may want to look for in those locales].

I bought this book thinking that it would be a great partner to my Lonely Planet guide but I was wrong. I used this book only a few times. The information wasn't extremely helpful for planning and there just was too much of it. The writing is interesting but it wasn't a necessary book to plan my trip. My cousin (who I traveled with) also had this book and felt the same way. We both left our copies at random hostels on our trip because they were just extra weight.

to travel to Europe. I stumbled on it by accident in a bookstore, and couldn't put it down. This book doesn't cover the practical stuff, like where to stay or eat, but how to act, what to expect, how to enjoy.
