Wonderfully concise and accurate guide to Spain,
By
This review is from: Rick Steves' Spain 2010 with map (Paperback)
Highly recommended. I used the Rick Steves guide for a recent trip to Spain and found it invaluable. It is clearly written, entertaining, concise, and up-to-date. When I tried using a second travel guide in Barcelona, although it had more restaurants and hotels listed, I found the information was not as complete or as current. The Rick Steves guide is particularly useful if you have one to three weeks to visit Spain and need to be selective about where to visit due to time constraints. This book does not include every single place in Spain. Instead, it covers what Rick Steves considers to be the highlights. I found that very helpful in planning the trip. If you plan to spend six weeks in this country, or need a comprehensive guide to every single area in Spain, you may want to use Amazon to "look inside" the book to see if it meets your needs. Personally, I'm very glad I took this Rick Steves guide with me to Spain.

Rick Steve's Spain 2010,
By

It was very disapointing. We have always used Rick for our traveling (Rome, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Germany) but unfortunatly he let us down this time. We went to Barcelona for 4 days but I found it very difficult to plan using this book. He does a poor job of giving good distance references and very limited hotel options. Many of his recommended hotel's are on Ramblas which is not a very safe area to stay, especially at night. Also, there are quite a bit of resturant guides which seems a little "fishy". Barcelona is a huge city maybe it needs to be its own book.

I had never used Rick Steve's guides before our recent 3 week trip to Spain. I will always use his guides from now on. They are clear, detailed, and invaluable. It was like having an experienced Spaniard guide us through subways, museum entrances, tourist sights, local tapas bars, and a myriad of other potentially confusing moments in a new and as yet unexplored country. I recommend them highly.

My friends and I affectionately refer to this book as "Rick". Rick always comes with us.
I've taken him to Barcelona, Sevilla, Ronda, Madrid, Toledo, Segovia and myriad other places. His descriptions of places are excellent-informative and funny. He writes as if he were talking to you. Even now that I permanently reside in Spain, I keep Rick with me. He's great for visitors and has a better hotel selection than Lonely Planet. I agree with the other companions: You just can't go wrong.

Excellant advice. No too complicated but hits the high spots. Tells you why you should see or do something. Good uncomplicated maps.

This guide was useful for finding lodging and using public transportation. However, Rick Steves seems to be obsessed with churches and museums. The book should have included more adventurous activities for those of us that can still breathe.

This book was very helpful on our first trip to Spain. Very readable & mostly accurate. However, he made too big a deal of the Dangerous Gypsies, and the Dangerous Basque Seperatists. We went into a bar in San Sebastian that he said was
a bit scary, & found sweet young students tending bar, who even spoke English!

Book arrived as promised...cover slightly bent but Rick Steves encourages folks to use the book, highlight, tear out relevant pages so no big deal. Price good.
