If you're going light, this is the toiletry bag to get, January 5, 2008
This review is from: Rick Steves Travelin' 7-Inch Toiletries Kit (Apparel)
I have the black bag, and have had it get wet with no running ink or dye problems.
I really love this little toiletry bag. I put my toothbrush, 2 oz tube of toothpaste and dental floss on one side of the bag. On the other side mesh pocket I put a tube of hair styling gel and a tube of hand cream/lotion. Inside the bag there is a removable caddy that can hang in the shower that has space for three more 3oz bottles- shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soap for body wash/laundry. The two other pockets inside the main compartment hold my wonderful Braun Pocket Go travel razor (you have to get one) and my deodorant.
There is another pocket inside the flap that folds over to close the bag, and I place flatter things like q-tips, bandages, match books and other items. There is a flat zippered compartment in the back where I put a flat LCD travel alarm clock, universal sink stopper and a flexoline for drying clothes.
I love the removable caddy. You can take that our right away when you get to the hotel room and hang that up in the shower. There is an indestructible hard plastic shaving/makeup mirror in it that just won't scratch. If you're the kind of person who explodes all over your hotel's sink area when you unload your full arsenal of personal care products and are rethinking hauling half a drug store with you when you travel, this little bag will thrill you.
The maids that come into my bathroom have nothing to do- all that's in there is a caddy hanging from the shower head with 3 bottles in it and the main bag hanging from the towel bar with everything else in it. I don't usually hostel it, but if I did, this is the only bag to do it in. Simple and compact, I'd go into those communal bathrooms, do my thing and get out ASAP!
My deepest satisfaction is holding that little bag knowing that in it there are enough products to shower and wash my hair, brush and floss my teeth, shave, apply deodorant, clean my ears, apply lotion to my body, do my laundry, dry it and wake me up on time.
And I even have some space left- how do you like them apples?
I highly recommend this bag. The mesh design to allow things to dry quickly, the wonderful simplistic design and overall packability make it a PLEASURE to travel with it. I was tempted to get the larger version and am glad I didn't- there is more than enough space in this little bag to get me through a months worth of travel and back home looking good.

Great little bag, lots of organization for the space!, September 14, 2009
This is a very handy toiletries kit - the shape fits in my luggage easily. Love the hanging hooks, the shower insert.... easily tall enough for full-size deodorant (why don't deodorant companies ever make travel-size in the UNSCENTED??? but that's another issue, LOL). I'm a low maintenance kinda gal though; I packed some Bare Minerals makeup, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, comb, makeup brushes... also fit in a Bare Minerals boxed kit (still in the box to try). Had sanitary supplies, toothpaste, toothbrush - those outside pockets are really handy for them - also a lash curler, face lotion... anyway, more than I usually carry. It was perfect for me! The materials also seemed very durable, easy to to wipe off, great-sized zipper pull.
That being said - having seen women in the locker room... many ladies may prefer the larger (9") version. After submitting this review, I'll add a "customer image" of all the stuff that fit in mine (the 7").
