3.0 out of 5 stars Entry level walks for first time visitors - touristy August 20, 2012

I've been pretty pleased in the past with Steves' guidebooks. However, these walks are short and all clustered around the most touristy locations (St. Marks Square). Probably useful if you are a first time visitor, but skip if you have been to Venice before. There are only three walks in this book when there are many, many more interesting locations to visit in Venice.

I bought it for my Kindle. It would be easier to use as a paper book. It was difficult to find what you wanted in the electronic version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Visit Venice the right way November 8, 2013

Don't go ANYWHERE when you travel without a tour/walk/guide from Rick Steves. His reviews are always spot-on. His tours take you to the places you want to see and explain the history of what you're looking at. Venice is a city of walking. On our recent trip, we walked over 18 miles in this enchanting city. Be sure you have this guide with you. It's VERY easy to get lost in the winding streets and canals. This guide takes you through the historic city in an easy to follow way. There are SO many things to see in Venice. Make sure you don't miss any of them!

Loved the way he included photos - you knew you were standing at the right place.
We found many "hidden" treasures on our walk.

Could use some warnings about getting turned around and lost..but that is what you do in Venice. Rick is the best.

Used this book in Athens last month. Great walks to follow. Shows all the interesting and important sites. Gives good layouts and proximity to nearby landmarks. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to wander.
