Enrique Martín Morales is the Puerto Rican pop star and actor best known for the hip-shakin' international hit "Livin' La Vida Loca", under the stage name Ricky Martin.

His career started when he was only 12 and became a member of the manufactured boy band Menudo. He had to leave the band when he was 17, being too old, at which point he turned to acting. His acting career met with success and he earned an award for his part in the film version of the television series Alcanzar una Estrella.

His music career began in 1990 when he signed to Sony Discos and released the Spanish language album Ricky Martin in 1991. The album was a success across America and Latin America and he performed at a string of successful concerts. A second album, Me Amarás (1993) preceded his role as a bartender in the American soap opera General Hospital, and by the next album, the platinum certified Vuelve (1998), he was acting in Broadway. His release of “The Cup of Life” was the anthem of the 1998 World Cup and reached No.1 in many countries across the world.

It took until 1999 for an English language Ricky Martin album to reach the public. Ricky Martin featured Madonna (on “Be Careful”), and “Livin’ La Vida Loca” was a huge international smash hit. The album finally achieved 7x platinum certification. He followed this success with Sound Loaded in 2000 but it failed to perform as well as its predecessor.

For 2001 he released two greatest hits compilations, La Historia (the Spanish version) and The Best of Ricky Martin (the English version). In 2003 he released a new Spanish album Almas del Silencio which returned him to prominence in the countries of his core fanbase.

Life was his English language follow-up to Sound Loaded. Released in 2005, it had taken five years between English language releases. Since then he has released an MTV Unplugged album (06) and a live album, Black & White Tour.

Ganador de los premios Grammy y Grammy latino, Ricky martin es un cantante de Pop nacido en Puerto Rico quien llegó a la fama, primero como miembro de la agrupacion juvenil Menudo, y después como solista.Durante su carrera Ha vendido mas de 55 millones de copias alrededor del mundo, registrando 21 de sus temas entre las 10 primeras posiciones de los listados latinos en los estados unidos, 8 de los cuales llegaron a ser número uno, y contando con mas de 30 sencillos exitosos. En 1991, lanzó el álbum que lleva su mismo nombre, el cual co-escribió con su antiguo compañero de la banda Menudo Robi Rosa, quien se convertiría en un colaborador frecuente durante el curso de su carrera. El álbum se convirtió en un hit considerable en los listados latinos. 2 años después, le siguió a éste trabajo el disco “Me Amarás” el cual fue producido por Juan carlos Calderón, siendo un hit aún más grande lo cual lo catapultaría al estatus de super estrella en Latinoamérica. En 1995, lanzó su tercer álbum, “A Medio Vivir,” un disco que tuvo un aire mas rockero pero al mismo tiempo presentaba estilos latinos como el flamenco y la cumbia. Iniciando el año 1998 lanzó su cuarto álbum, “Vuelve.” Su primer álbum pop en los idiomas Inglés y español –El cual se llamó “Ricky Martin” al igual que su primer larga duración- fue lanzado en la primavera de 1999 y lo convirtió en una super estrella internacionalmente gracias a superproducciones como "Livin' la Vida Loca" y "She's All I Ever Had." 1 año después, Martin impresionó de nuevo con el lanzamiento de “Sound Loaded.” Sus mejores éxitos en español e inglés fueron recolectados en el disco La Historia, lanzado en el año 2001, mientras que en el 2003, “Almas del Silencio” fue un album que contenía material nuevo en español. “Life,” lanzado en el año 2005, fué un regreso al fromato pop bilingüe. Martin finalmente lanzó el “MTV Unplugged” en 2006, en ambos formatos CD y DVD.
