5.0 out of 5 stars Nice alternative to more expensive reeds
My son likes these just as well, if not better, than the more expensive alternatives. I find they do produce a nice tone, but don't last quite as long.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for kids, not for adults
The reeds are much much softer than Vandoren 2.5s and if you're an adult trying to learn how to play, then I suggest you pick up a 2.5 instead because your natural embouchure will most likely be tighter than a kid's. The sound is a bit buzzy as compared to Vandoren's though. But if you're going for ease of use, this is okay.

I've tried several other brands, including synthetic, but these are the first clarinet reeds I've purchased that ALL played well right out of the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rico Royal clarinet reeds, October 20, 2011

My daughter uses these reeds for her clarinet. The price is excellent on Amazon for this seller. I have spent close to $10 more at the music store. I will always buy these on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome i love them!!!, December 15, 2011

awesome i love the tone and last long i would lean more to the 2.5 size because i always bump my tooth on there but they barely chip or brake! also i learned with the 2.0 stengths if you slide them in the holder and hit the side it will tear when its wet. but other then that AWESOME!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds good, March 9, 2011

These clarinet reads have a different sound than the normal Rico Reeds. They work very well and feel the same as the other. The sound is a little darker and they seem suited to more classical music.

4.0 out of 5 stars good reeds, September 20, 2007

This is a solid reed for school kids. I would give a better mark had the reeds been less inclined to chip.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for students, January 6, 2009
As a long-time clarinetist myself, and mom of a beginner - I've always been a fan of Rico's value-priced reeds. The Rico Royals perform well, hold up to some abuse, and provide good sound...plus, for this price, you can afford to replace often when your student mistreats them. Also great for outdoor use (marching band, etc) where pure tone isn't required.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good reed for a fair price, July 4, 2009

This review is from: Rico Royal Bb Clarinet Reeds, Strength 3.0, 10-pack (Electronics)
The reeds are for my daughter who is in Jr. High band. She is considered 1st chair, by the band teacher and a professional clarinetist who has a son in the band, but they don't use the "chair" designation because someone's feelings may get hurt.

She likes these reeds, on par and a little better than the standard Vandoren reeds. She rated them 4-1/2 but I can only put whole stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and does the job, November 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These reeds are a great choice for beginners. The are inexpensive and although they didn't last too long they were still a good buy. They were just fine for our needs and I plan to order more.
