The Ricoh MP7080 has a 4 MB buffer memory that achieves stable writing to avoid buffer underrun. It supports packet writing, track-at-once, multisession, and disc-at-once write methods. A high-power laser diode and improved pulse strategy enable high-speed CD-R writing. While reading data, the drive monitors noise errors caused by scratches or other imperfections. If an error is detected, the Ricoh MP7080 will retry its read operation at maximum speed.
The accompanying software bundle includes Adaptec Easy CD Creator and DirectCD, enabling you to customize your discs. All the necessary cables and connectors, as well as a start-up guide, are included.
Ricoh offers a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

This baby's on fire!,

This review is from: Ricoh CD-RW 8x4x32 Drive (Personal Computers)
Ricoh's newest addition to the MediaMaster family is atop-of-the-line performer, exhibiting excellent read, write, andrewrite speeds. In CNET Labs' tests, the MP7080 was the speed demon of a group of 5. With an amazing average throughput score, the MP7080 more than doubled the speed of the nearest competitor, the Acer CRW8432A. Its read and write scores were equally impressive, securing the MediaMaster a place as one of the fastest drives on the market. The Ricoh's 4MB buffer size helps prevent underrun errors, which can interrupt or even abort the recording process. And with a price tag of only ( ), this Ricoh is a bargain! The MP7080 makes no excuses. Ricoh promises a fast and affordable CD-RW, and it delivers. The MP7080 is a great performer, like the MP9060 and the MP7040 before it. Ricoh skimped a little on the included software, but the sizzling speed far outweighs that shortcoming. This is a no-frills drive that will blow through almost any task you throw at it. END

Spinning inferno,
This review is from: Ricoh CD-RW 8x4x32 Drive (Personal Computers)
This one could easily be called "The Devil Inside". :)) It is fast, very reliable and reads almost any CD you'll insert. If it won't read your disc, then it's surely so damaged nothing will read it again. One of my friends has a Mitsumi recorder and misburns approx. 10% of all discs. I haven't lost a single one in three months and have burned over 200 of them, therefore I think it is extremely reliable. It is quiet enough, comes with Nero software (which I find great) for burning and Ahead InCD for rewriting. The only painful thing is that Ricoh rewrites in UDF format, so if you are transferring data to another PC you'll have to install Ahead InCD there also. Nevertheless it is first class oven.
