Grade 1-3-Pilkey bridges the gap between his picture books and "Captain Underpants" series (Scholastic) with this entry about Ricky the mouse and his mechanical pal. Here, the duo battle extraterrestrial insects and an evil robot. In addition to telling an amusing story, the author also manages to squeeze in factoids about the planet Mercury, Flip-O-Rama animation, and cartooning lessons, though these may prove difficult for the targeted audience. Ontiveros's black-and-white cartoons enhance the humor and action, and the layout breaks the text into manageable chunks for new readers. This series may not be as popular as Pilkey's earlier titles, but Ricky will garner young fans of his own.

Again another excellent and fun book by Dave Pilkey. Great for early readers to read all on their own and to read to younger children, especially those who enjoy the Captain Underpants stories. An excellent book for children to learn that reading is fun.

If your child (or you) are a fan of Dav Pilkey and his silliness, this book will not disappoint. It's full of nonsense and fun! A great way to keep your child reading.

This is a simpler book than the captain underpants series and has no pee or poo jokes found in Dav Pilkey's other hilarious books....but it's got lots of clean humour and this one explained fractions at the same time as you were laughing..
and not just the simple maths stuff for a 5 or 4 yo like 6-5 ..but one divided by 2
= one half and 2 x 3 is 6..so my 5yo son from there got into division and other fractions as a 5yo !!...without any heavy long winded lessons...

All of the books in this series have a good moral ending...so if you want a fine Dav Pilkey series without Toilet humour...go for this stuff..
