5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner
Again another excellent and fun book by Dave Pilkey. Great for early readers to read all on their own and to read to younger children, especially those who enjoy the Captain Underpants stories. An excellent book for children to learn that reading is fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kids love it. Parents hate it
My kids LOVE Captain Underpants, but I've found out the hard way that they don't make for very good read-aloud, bed time books. Be warned : These books are set up in comic strip form on a lot of their pages and without showing your kids EVERY page of the book while reading it, they'll be lost in the story. They're really good books, don't get me wrong, just not very good...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Whole Bunch of Laughter and Fun, August 27, 2000
If your child (or you) are a fan of Dav Pilkey and his silliness, this book will not disappoint. It's full of nonsense and fun! A great way to keep your child reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book taught my 5yo child about fractions and other mathematics !!, October 3, 2011
This review is from: Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Mutant Mosquitoes from Mercury (Ricky Ricotta, No. 2) (Paperback)
This is a simpler book than the captain underpants series and has no pee or poo jokes found in Dav Pilkey's other hilarious books....but it's got lots of clean humour and this one explained fractions at the same time as you were laughing..
and not just the simple maths stuff for a 5 or 4 yo like 6-5 ..but one divided by 2
= one half and 2 x 3 is 6..so my 5yo son from there got into division and other fractions as a 5yo !!...without any heavy long winded lessons...

All of the books in this series have a good moral ending...so if you want a fine Dav Pilkey series without Toilet humour...go for this stuff..

5.0 out of 5 stars Ricky Ricotta Book Series, January 26, 2011

This review is from: Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Mutant Mosquitoes from Mercury (Ricky Ricotta, No. 2) (Paperback)
My 8 YO son was a HUGE Captain Underpants fan but he had read them all and needed something new. I bought the Ricky Ricotta books and he really liked them as well. He said they are "not quite as great, but they are very, very good." I would recommend these books to anyone who has a child who loves to read or one who is struggling. The author has a way of pulling the children in and they just sit and giggle through the whole thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars A 4th Grade Student Review!, February 25, 2010
This review is from: Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Mutant Mosquitoes from Mercury (Ricky Ricotta, No. 2) (Paperback)
I would give this book 5 stars because it was action packed. There is a mosquitoe who hates Mercury because it is too cold there. So he decides to rule the earth. It didn't work because Ricky's mighty robot came to the rescue. Once again Ricky and his mighty robot saved the day. The author made me laugh and the story was full of excitement from begining to end. ~Lime

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the "reluctant reader", March 8, 2008

This review is from: Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Mutant Mosquitoes from Mercury (Ricky Ricotta, No. 2) (Paperback)
My 7-year old has had a difficult time getting started with reading. After discovering he needed glasses the stigma seemed to stick that reading was too much work. I purchased a few books from this series, they had good-size type, plenty of pictures, yet lots of chapters. My son was very excited to be in Chapter Books but most (Magic Tree House, Geronimo Stilton, etc.) were beyond his abilities. I was ecstatic to see him DEVOUR these books! He loves the characters, the stories seem to be engaging and the author put "Flip" cartoons in the books along with "How to draw the characters" sections. My reluctant reader finished the first book in a day, something I never thought I'd see, and raced home to begin the second book.
Yippee! What a fantastic find.

My four and six year old LOVE them though.

This review is from: Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Mutant Mosquitoes from Mercury (Ricky Ricotta, No. 2) (Paperback)
This was an okay book.I first picked up this book because I am a fan of Dav Pilkey, and the Captain Underpants series. However, there were a few things about this book that I did not like. 1.The text was way to simple.

2.There were more pictures than words. I woud recomond this book to anyone in the 4-6 age level. 7-etc. why don't you stick with Captain Underpants for the time being.
